The Faceting can't happen in Venice because of "Murano Glass", Venice is historically known for its glass so it can't change the trade good

bonus tip as france:
due to the french ideas getting -50% war tax cost, as well as another -50% war tax through tier 8 reform, you can get war taxes for absolutely free, making it even cheaper to have a massive army with the juicy -15% maintenance cost during war

I feel physical pain whenever I forget to turn off war taxes because I sometimes get it as my first age bonus... 10/10

Bonus tip as Ottomans: When you get an event which allows you to get +2 or -2 corruption. Before choosing, go to economy tab amd debase currency to get money and 2 corruption. Then click -2 corruption in the event. You got yourself free money.

You're able to get faceting as Oman. Getting all your cores from Hormuz gives you a bunch of prestige and if you move your capital and develop your trade centre for rennaisaince you can get faceting, very useful for expanding further and forming mughals

If you have exactly 1 glass province, you should give the burghers a monopoly on it for 1 mercantilism and a few months' worth of gold, right as faceting fires. Normally you'd lose production income from that province for 5 years, but now it's making gems!

The one-way trade note trick is only applicable if no one is collecting there. So it can be very good in Bordeaux for example but stealing the trade out of other nodes can be worth it.

Also, faceting can also spawn in provinces that already have gems like Danzig or Königsberg.

Here's a tip: You can bypass the huge Loyalty penalties from Force Religion and Place Relative On Throne by releasing them from vassalage. They'll often end up in a situation where they'll immediately agree to be vassalized again due to the same religion and dynasty, and their likely being much weaker than you. Once they're re-vassalized they don't have the Loyalty penalty any more.

Another tip (that I often use in conjunction with the first as Muscovy) is that a nation's starting visibility of provinces is based on their culture (or is it tech group? I'm not sure), so you can get maps from newly-released nations in some places. When I play Muscovy, I usually conquer the Bashkir provinces from Kazan, release Bashkiria as a subject, use the above trick, then ask them for maps of Asia after they're released from subjugation (must do it before re-vassalization, because you can't trade for maps from your own subjects) because they have maps of north and east Asia due to being a Tatar culture nation (or Nomadic tech group).

The reason venice cannot have the faceting event spawn in it's capital is because there is a seperate event tied specifically to glass that happens in that state

As an addendum to stability: I like keeping it at +1 at minimum. Because if it goes from 0 to -1, I will raise it anyway. It's the same cost from 0 to 1, so might as well enjoy the benefits.

If you play as Holland or Flanders and break free from Burgundy, always go sure to also take Antwerp. Amazing province to spawn Faceting at. Getting the 50 Prestige is easily done when you fight guys like Gelre, Utrecht or Friesland. Break their allies rivalries and you ll be there quickly.

I was chuffed when in my first Teutons game I got faceting, and ever since I’ve kind of just hoped for it, but never cared enough to learn how to go for it, nice to know how it works now though

If you get faceting on Bohemia’s starting glass province, you lock yourself out of the bohemian crystal modifier from your mission tree. Instead, grab your subject’s glass province and dev it there instead!

Me, who only use scorched earth to ravage my enemies territory and force them to spend dozens of years and a few bankruptcies restoring their country before having a decent economy again:

The reason Venice can't get gems is probably because they have several events based around Venetian glass.

For faceting, you can also get it as Austria in Breisgau, I believe. Yes, it takes a fair few points, but combine that & your gold mine & you're sorted for basically the full game
