You should be commended for reading seven books and completing a readathon, given all the other stuff you had going on. I only work stuff and I still only managed to finish three books in August, and one of those was The Test, most of which I read in July anyway. 😆

I felt like the Ruin of Kings started off the series very strongly and it gets muddled as it goes along. But then I don't need romance in my fantasy. :P

Iron Gold is dark and depressing especially if you read it remembering Morning Star's sort of high note of "yay, we won." 🙃

I hate when I just can't get attached to characters. It's either I'm just in a funk and can't become attached to them, or the author isn't keeping me interested in their personalities and motives. Either way it sucks. It always makes it difficult to really get absorbed into a book (at least for me since I'm kind of more character driven).
