i need more people to be obsessed with a sign of affection, totally agree with you on mr.childlike love response. The way itsumi shuts him down the way he does, big smiles.

🏀 some books I read in august were: Icon and inferno by Marie Lu (2nd book in series). This was a five star for me!, Powerless (4.5 star for me) Betting on You by Lynn Painter (4.75 star for me), and Everyone in this family has killed someone by Benjamin Stevenson (4.5 stars for me) I highly recommend all of these 14+.

August as a reading month was terrible for me, i read 5 books and almost all of them were 3stars. And i dnf'ed 3 books after getting a lot of pages into all three of them and it was so heartbreaking. I still found a new fave and only one 5star which is 'the ex vows' by Jessica Joyce.

The Right Move is my favorite romance & I’m so glad you love it too 🥹 I hope you love Caught Up & Play Along just as much 🤭🏀🏀🏀

I agree with you about Oshi. Like, you can defend her from all those people who bad mouthed her without you being so mean/bad towards her. You can express your care in a nice way.

And while Oshi wants to hide Yuki from the rest of the world because he doesn't want her to experience some bad experience (when he's actually the doing it towards her), Itsuomi wants Yuki to see the world.

Vol. 10/11 made me cry because of that one specific scene. 😢 I'm glad you liked ASOA more now than before. It gave me butterflies and made me kick and punch the air every time I think about it.

I haven’t read not in love yet but I’ve heard a lot of people saying it’s not as good as her other novels and that makes me so sad😭

Becky Chambers is my favorite sci-fi author. I gave A psalm for the wild-built and To be taught, if fortunate 5⭐️, and A long way to a small, angry planet was 4.5⭐️ (but will probably be a 5 on a reread). I highly recommend her oeuvre

Not sure if you've read it or not, but you should read Raybourn's standalone "Killers of a Certain Age." It's got the humor present in her Veronica Speedwell series, but just applied to 60+ age female assassins and had me cackling. Also, The Tea Dragon Society is officially one of my favorite graphic novels of all time, and some of the fall pages in the third volume are STUNNING.

I read a lot of mysteries in August, and some new ones I liked were the first two of the Rachel Savernake series by Martin Edwards, "Gallows Court" and "Mortmain Hall." It's a blend of crime fiction and mystery, and the FMC is very much moralistically grey.

I want to read the Veronica Speedwell series so bad 🥲

My biggest issue with Just for the Summer was the trauma was so deeply traumatic and repressed that it makes no sense as to why she's ready for a healthy relationship at the end of the book. Also the last twist was too much for me. I was glad she came to the necessary realization to move on but it felt extreme for what we'd already been through with Emma. I couldn't believe Justin and Emma should be together in the last third of the book. I agree that it was hard to enjoy this book beyond 50 or 60% and the marketing was deceiving.

Hi Mel, if you want to check out a cozy fall manga I highly recommend Witch Hat Atelier. I recently got it for myself and was blown away by the beautiful artstyle and story, I really think it would be something you would enjoy☺️🍁

I read A Sign of Affection in August because of your vlog....I only gave it 3 stars, but I will be continuing and think I will love it in further volumes. I read A Curious Beginning last year and gave it 5 stars and I also gave The Tea Dragon Society 5 stars this year too! I did read the Robot and Monk series and did not enjoy it, but I've found out Sci-fi is NOT for me. Glad you had so many amazing reads in August!
