Talking About Future Plans - Easy English Grammar

So, you want to talk about your plans for the future. Better use ‘will’, right? Wrong! Well, you aren’t completely wrong, but did you know there are MANY different ways to talk about your plans?

When learning English, many students quickly learn about future simple tense, and mistakenly believe it is the correct way to talk about the future. Unfortunately, English isn’t as straightforward as that, and while there is a time and place to use will, it is not the most common option. So what it is? Well, again it depends on the situation. In this lesson, we’ll take a look at the four best ways to talk about your future plans, and when you should use each one. The four we’ll learn about today are ‘to be’ going to, present continuous, future simple, and present simple. You’ll notice that out of those four, only ONE uses the word ‘future’ and two use the word ‘present’. Weird, right?
