I mean, American, native English-speaker here. Yes, “what are you up to” is much more casual, but it’s not like saying “what are you doing these days” is wrong or anything. This applies to many other videos, too. It’s okay.

I just say "How's life?" Or "So what have you been doing recently?"

I don't think most people would notice the difference between "what are you doing these days" and "what are you up to these days" They mean the same thing and can be used interchangeably. All I'm saying is that you don't need to feel insecure or worry about using the first sentence, because it sounds just as natural as the second one.
