America's Only SUPERHEAVY, the T28 | Cursed by Design

Over the years this tank has received many names. Originally known as T28 and T95 in more modern times it has become known as the Doom Turtle or Zoom Turtle. In today's episode we take a look at the development of America’s only Super Heavy tank. With the US entering the second world war it was only a matter of time until an invasion of mainland Europe would occur. Today we know this occurred in the form of the Italian and Normandy landings. However in 1943 D-Day had not yet come to pass and uncertainty about the German defenses would bring with it the creation of a slow moving monster.

T28: "It's getting dark and my fuel levels are low. I've been waiting for the Nazis for a while now, did I do good?"

It became a "zoom turtle" when we got able to equip a turbo charger on it in World Off Tanks xD

The first time I learned about this tank, I literally walked into it in 2012 at Ft. Benning. What I thought was a random wall of metal sitting in the vehicle yard, the curators told me that those are the tracks for... THAT. And then I saw it. The doom turtle in all its girthy glory.

If you bury the doom turtle a little bit underground and fill it with concrete around the entrance on top of it, you've essentially made a makeshift basic bunker or pillbox that can shoot out.

I just unlocked this tank in war thunder a few weeks ago and it’s hilarious watching people panic when they can’t pen your front armor😂 anyways, nice video 👍

The T-28 was originally restored at Ft Knox, KY when that was the Armor Center and was displayed at the Patton Museum. I first saw it there in 1990. Subsequently it was moved to Ft Benning and refurbished again.

This tank was on display at Fort Knox, Kentucky! I have an old photo and post card when I was stationed there!

I saw this actual tank outside the Patton Museum at Fort Knox about 15 years ago. My two young children climbed all over it. Maybe it was the one that had the engine fire. It was grouped with many other retired US tanks.

Good video!! Actually seen this vehicle when it was at Fort Knox, KY. I was stationed there from 1983-1985. It was part of the Patton Museum of Armor & Cavalry outdoor static displays of vehicles. Also got to climb aboard this vehicle before the installation put a stop to climbing on vehicles in outdoor static displays. Got some great photos of this vehicle as well.

I would love to hear how it was just left in a Field like was it on purpose? or like the Driver was ran out of Fuel out their walked back and forgot to tell anyone about it, then while taking Inventory the Military is Confused on how a 90 Ton Tank just Disappears.

When I went to basic training at Harmony Church at FT Benning, I saw this and freeked out! I was absolutely love struck when I saw her there. Of course, no one knew it was one of the most rare tanks in the us arsenal, so I was the only one who really appreciated it. 😂

The rear of the hull makes it look like it has a Ford Mustang-style fastback.
With such a low top speed, it gives a new meaning to "drag race."
