As you can see I've worked a variety of jobs in my life but they sort of all led up to my current job (along with university of course). Have a watch and then let me know a little about your job history in the comments, even if you're not where you want to be yet, work experience is work experience and it's good to be working and earning your own money :)

My Job History(I'm 24, from India): Finished bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering in 2015. Joined Infosys right away as a front end web developer(totally unrelated to my degree). Still in this same position. Most people from my unit (Communication Design Group) are UI/UX designers and I'm pulling my hair out lately, trying to decide whether I should do masters degree in design or computer science!

You have quite the history and I have been working for a retail store doing casual work during the holidays from 2006 until and the from 2009 until 2014 I worked full time for them as a Office Clerk so after a new owner took over the grocery store decided that I wanted to graphics design, so I did a few months of freelancing and now I'm starting my first job as a graphic designer on Wednesday for a Finance consulting company. what is really awesome is that that this business is also willing to teach me grow my own business in the meantime. It's like I scratch your back you scratch my back scenario haha.

i am far from my career path (i want to be a game designer) but i've had many random jobs. when i was 17 and in my seniour year of hs, i worked as a phone tutor for a local news channel a few hours a week; kids would call in and we'd tutor them on whatever subject they had. we also had to make sure the tv show playing during this time also had questions, so sometimes we'd call in with current maths topics hah! it lasted only the school year. after an odd hiccup with a terrible semester at uni, i was pretty lost and ended up working with my brother at a call center for medical insurance for a year and a half when i was 18/19. it was the worst job EVER but it made me learn so much about handling customers. after that, i worked as an executive assistant to the ceo of a construction company but four months of that hell later, i ended up moving down to admin assistant until they continued to decrease my hours and after getting really sick and having to call out two days, i got fired. (after overhauling their entire system and doing several huge projects for them lmfao. they did not make me feel welcome tbh...) i was there for 8 months, glad it ended! i wanted to get into food/bev at this rate, so i could have more flexibility while in school (i was in school for all of these positions) and ended up at some new seafood fast casual restaurant that was awful to me lol. they said i was mean although i hadn't done anything they could point out and it just got to that awkward stage where they scheduled me down to one shift a week and ignored me for the few hours i was there. i got a second job during that time (it was winter break) as an usher at a very eclectic and funny cirque show. i left the restaurant job after only two months once school began and it was a huge relief to me. i've been at this show for over a year now, it works well with my school schedule but not so much my sleep hah! i was trying to get into barbacking or serving last year and i did get hired somewhere, and after two shifts of training, they ignored me and never scheduled me for when i was supposed to start. luckily, the show is really laid back and has a bunch of on call ushers so i ended up picking up shifts after being screwed over and coming back. now i don't even know. trying to finish my first degree, work harder on my art, and trying to get into freelancing as well as create a side project of designing shirts and such!

I feel like I've worked quite a few jobs considering I've only been working since I was 17.  I've worked at a halloween store which was amazing but unfortunately seasonal, a fast food shop which was about as bad as you'd expect.  The longest job I've ever had was when I worked at Sephora for two and a half years.  I briefly worked at a newspaper but it wasn't what I had expected so I actually left quite quickly, it's something I usually leave off my resume.  I work at a chain bookstore right now and it's probably my favorite job so far, I also picked up a job at another makeup store for the summer but left that early because they couldn't hang on to managers and it was too stressful...I'm hoping to pick up some internships this year to add to my resume so I can get a foot in the door of advertising design!

That's a great overview. My first year working in the animation industry I was a bit obsessed by how everyone got there.

Do you see a correlation with retail jobs leading to graphic design?

aw that's so awesome and interesting, Iam 15 and I've been trying to get a job for the longest here in the U.S, I thoguht 14 would be my first real job but no, unless your 16 people don't really take you seriously :'(

I'am really interested in Graphic design but Iam more focused on Art, Graphics design and programming seems like a good back up for Animation, I go to a magnet school so I get the learn all these stuff, beside animation which Iam learing on my own

but all my work is done on the computer, and Iam trying to save one for my own, so I can be a multimdia artist, idk where Iam going with but Iam really happy to have found yourr channel

it's really important to be meeting a lot of people coz who knows where you'll get your first job closest to what you really want aye... lol hope what i said made sense... i don't have much in my history, just jumping from one cafe to another... i've tried fashion retail so many times but they never called me back... funny though, when one did, I already accepted another coffee job.. that sucked a bit.. lol anyway, i enjoyed this video :D

Hi Charli! I'm in school for graphic and web design and I love your videos. This is a little off topic but do you have any videos about life in New Zealand? My fam and I have heard wonderful things about it from other people and we would like to visit and possibly move there from the States. Thanks!
