Ngl i focus on my squat the most and try to bench as much as possible, deadlifts rarely feel good to me and racking then reracking the weight is like hell when your day is already pretty fked up

Sounds completely impossible to me. My deadlifts is 60 kg stronger than my squat. I've yet to squat 200 kg. A this point I think I will deadlifts 300 kg before I squat 5 plates.

Correction : short femur = more upright squats and people with long femurs will mostly pull sumo

I’m 13 weight 125 and have a 120 bench, 205 deadlift, but a 195 squat

I always wonder why I’m squatting so close to my deadlift and this helps

deadlifts always felt amazing for me. just add 5 pounds every week for months on end. my bench and squat however.. yeah you can guess lol

I think the most common source of people squatting more than they deaflift is Starting Strength convincing people they need to do 1 set of 5 for deadlifts every other week and 3 sets of 5 for squats every other day.

It took me a while to realize that. I’m 5’7 and have very short femurs, and my deadlift is absolute ass. I bench 200, squat 300+, but I haven’t even been able to break 300 on my deadlift. It annoys me so much since I’ve spent countless hours dedicated to improving my form on all three lifts, but my deadlift just won’t grow despite having near perfect form.

Can someone clarify this for me? Length is relative, so short femurs means long torso, and long femurs means short torso. Tibia length is irrelevant to your big three leverages.

With long femurs, conventional deadlifts will be easier because your torso is short and upright, and your glutes and hamstrings are stronger and more engaged since you are sitting back more.

With short femurs, sumo should be easier since your torso is long, you want to be in an upright position to negate that limiting factor.

For squats, long femurs causes you to use your glutes and hamstrings as well, which makes low bar easier and stronger.

short femurs causes you to be more upright, which means high bar squats should be easier.

I don’t see how bench is affected by the length of your lower body or torso, but I would assume the length of your arms for range of motion, the size of your rib cage for ROM, and I’ve heard broad shoulders helps but I’m not sure why. Supposedly weight also matters by reducing rom, but I’m not sure how increased fat affects leverages exactly.

If you have both long femurs and long torso, you are just tall, and the inverse is true for being short.

Long femurs here. My current deadlift max (245lbs, conventional) is almost 100lbs higher than my squat max of only 165lbs. It's kind of annoying how I always lean super far forward with my squats, even when I go low-bar on my back squat 🙄

My numbers (so far) for squat, bench, and deadlift are 575lbs/355lbs/635lbs. I trained deadlift and bench much more early on but have always thought that my squat would be my best lift if I trained it more. Closing in on 600lbs for the squat now. I almost completely stopped going heavy on bench about 1.5 years ago because I had some kind of strain/injury in my right arm from arm wrestling that made pressing annoying. Can still hit 300 or so but I haven't pushed it.

Honestly, I think it's just his form. Look at it, he is trying to pull everything with his back and no leg. The deadlift is primarily a leg movement. Doesn't mean you have to squat it, but you can't just pull with your back and expect good results.

Long femurs and high bar squat is me unfortunately. I love high bar more than low bar even though I have to bend my upper back to balance out the weight. Thoracic rounding is okay.

My body is definitely favouring deadlifts. I have long arms and a long waist, but am relatively short. Long arms is worse for benchpress and does nothing for squats, but my deadlift is way higher than my squat. Granted, I still lift very light compared to veterans so maybe it will stabilize over time
