Literally tearing up over this video. Growing up fending for myself and never having food in my house, let alone a parent that would prepare anything for me, and seeing a dad that provides meals for when his kids are hungry makes me so happy. I feel so warm watching these.

I'm very pro the idea of being a good parent so that some little shit can't weasel their way into your kid's life with little to no effort.

We do this at my kids' homes but in canning jars, not sealed bags. The jars reheat in the microwave or get poured into a pot on top of other stuff. And I taught my oldest grandson to start cooking for himself at 14, stiff other than just a pkg of plain ramen (he has ADHD & anxiety disorder). My younger son has already taught his kids how to make 2 different types of egg dishes for breakfast, & sandwiches of course.
Growing up, we were really poor& often didn't have proper tables & chairs to sit on, much less meal settings w/proper utensils, etc. So I couldn't quite teach my children every table etiquette I'd learned growing up, but I tried. They remembered most of it, thank goodness, the cooking, the nutrition, the etiquette.
Keep it up, Dad, it's going to stick. They'll remember.❤

Straight facts. Men, be genuine and loving to your daughters so when someone tries to impress them with minimal shit, she won't be fazed

this is so sweet :) i usually struggle to relate to the kind of grizzled parental sarcasm of your videos as an overly optimistic college student, but in this vid especially the love for your children truly shines thru. very endearing, made me tear up, thank u

Teaching your daughters life skills (cooking skills, ability to make oneself dinner), teaching them nutrition (balanced meals, portion sizes), and teaching them to appreciate good food? Your girls are super lucky. Here, take your Good Dad award.

If i had kids i'd definitely do this. Encourage them to learn how to cook their own meals and the basics of nutrition as early as possible. It's mind boggling to me how rare it is to find parents willing to impart important life knowledge and skills to their kids as early as possible. No tyranically authoritarian or neglectfully laxx BS, just a healthy relationship where involvement is key and encouraging acquiring new skills.

Almost every single time a kid fails at life, it's because the parents didn't do the above.

A good dad SHOWS their kids what a good man looks like. He gives them a bar to look for or surpass. Teaching your girls standards by showing them a good man can make good food and love them beyond words is amazing. Keep up the good work. You truly are inspiring

100% agreed. Growing up, both of my parents knew how to cook. I naturally became a foodie and also liked cooking. They say I comment a lot on foods, but it's because I can recognize when food has a taste and when it's only for sustenance. There's a difference between food cooked with love versus when it's cooked simply because you need to eat before you go your day. Some might say we're the type who's hard to please but the truth is, when you're used to food being prepared or cooked to its full potnetial, you cannot just unsee, or untaste that.

I grew up in a group home and we cooked dinner ourselves on the weekends which was one of my favorite things to do tbh.
