It is based on the timeout Index, which has LGBT bias (read between the lines...the most welcoming, energetic, cultured and resilient cities==LGBT friendly). No surprise that SF is number one!

Please don't take my comment as criticism. I support the LGBTQ community. I'm just pointing out that the list isn't neutral.

I actually preferred San Diego over San Francisco, but that was almost 10 years ago. Copenhagen was awesome, so walkable.
