Roadmap Abstract: The world faces some of its greatest challenges of modern time and how we address them will have a dramatic impact on the life for generations to come. Simultaneously, control systems, consisting of information enriched by various degrees of analytics followed by decision-making, are pervading a variety of sectors, not only in engineering but beyond, into financial services, socio-economic analysis, entertainment and sports, and political and social sciences. Increased levels of automation are sought after in various sectors and being introduced into new domains. All of these advances and transformations urge a shift in the conversation toward how control systems can meet grand societal- scale challenges. The document seeks to chart a roadmap for the evolution of control systems, identifying several areas where our discipline can have an impact over the next decade.

Techno utopianism comes to mind. Maby taking the ressource base into account might be worth your while. Just to make shure the materials to - say - electrify everything are actually available when needed.

Wasn't this called Cybernetics? Does the document use the term? Also I think there will be some current dogma and social orthodoxies in the document.

All control theorists (and freaks) should read Iain McGilchrist.

The intention is benign, but just KNOW that the resultant control of such technology will be used by malevolent players to establish a technocratic tyranny.
Nothing is more certain.

This is exactly the point where you make a very fundamental mistake, i only watched the first minutes.. The topics mentioned are highly politicized, they are not clear-cut scientific problems. You run the risk of becoming a tool for "solving" political motivated "problems". I greatly appreciate your scientific subjects, and I'm sure you have very good intentions, solving the problems you mentioned, but we know where good intention can lead us to, the road to hell is paved with them. Will ignore your good intentions and follow your scientific subjects, they are absolutely brilliant 👏, but remember the slogan, "just follow the science", never before was that statement so untrue.
