Russian energy giant Gazprom said Saturday it had halted gas exports to neighbouring Finland as it had not received payment in rubles. After Russia moved troops into Ukraine on February 24, Moscow asked clients from "unfriendly countries" – including EU member states – to pay for gas in rubles, a way to sidestep Western financial sanctions. lucky for Finland both uk and Poland have said they would send troops if they were attacked, together those two country's have 104 million population, without that I think Russia might attack the Finns even though they are bogged down in Ukraine . its one thing attacking 5 million people another attacking 120 million if you include uk Sweden Poland and Finland

I know this is a huge blow to Finland 🇫🇮 and other countries. But I think that in a way this will have long term benefits for these countries. It will help the development and implementation of renewable energy sources. Something we all need to be thinking about more seriously. To be independent from other countries, will change everything. It’s time we start to use renewable energy sources before we run out and the real shit will hit the fan! 47 years left of oil. Natural gas 53 years, Coal 114 years supply left. The prices are increasing at an alarming rate. I hope that this will be the incentive to push governments to put more money into finding better ways improve renewable energy production.

I'll be honest, it seems like Russia is going after the little fish in terms of cutting off oil and gas supplies. I feel like it would mean something when it starts cutting off gas to places like Italy, France, and especially Germany. Those actions would be a big statement. But at the same time that would be a lot of lost revenue for Russia
