The impact of Russia's conflict in Ukraine on Europe was estimated at $1 trillion, and the worst crisis in decades is only getting started. After this winter, the area will have to replenish its gas supplies without many Russian deliveries, which will make it more difficult to find fuel tankers.

And all this could have been avoided with Ukraine remaining neutral and political tact .

The European governments inflicted this suffering on their own citizens via the energy sanctions on Russia. And just who took out the Russians Nordstream II pipeline to force Germany to buy expensive US gas? The US, the UK or both.

*Never mind, Zelensky's priorities are more important to the EU leadership than the needs of their own citizens.*

Ask the people at the EU Parliament and the European politicians. They don't feel it. They can afford luxurious food and keep warm thanks to their high salaries and perks and side-income living in their ivory towers.

It's a crisis for the average citizen, but for the corporations, the wars and high gas/oil prices are increasing their wealth exponentially.

There's no other cheap and easy possibility of acquiring oil and gas other than Russia. Better would be to accept Russia's demands settle down the war and resume necessary exchanges and trades with Russia. 😅

Real challenge will be next year ... Europeans are forgetting that despite loading up with 95% of cheap Russian gas and fuels before winter and purchase of balance 5% from international market has pushed up inflation and made energy unaffordable for normal EU citizens and started deindustrialization of EU ... Guess what will happen next year when 100% gas and energy will have to be purchased by EU from the international markets

It makes no sense to switch to more expensive US and Qatari natural gas. Europe should not be involving itself in the power struggle between the US and Russia. The Ukrainians terrorized the ethnic Russians of the Donbas, rejected peace and provoked Russia into this war. (Not that Russia needs much provoking.)
Europe should leave NATO, become non-aligned, drop US sanctions against anybody, and resume imports of cheep Russian gas. The EU must prioritize the move to renewables. The crisis has once again exposed the irrationality of Brussel's monetary and fiscal restrictions.
The EU's foreign policy priorities should be to: (1) include Russia in a new European security architecture; (2) exclude the US and England from interference the European affairs; (3) forge ties with India, China, and Africa; (4) and help the people of the Southern Mediterranean littoral establish peace, stability and economic growth in their countries.
