I'm a 57 year old single man & I've recently discovered that minimalism is for me. My job takes me into people's houses and I now shudder at all the clutter and knick-knacks people live with. Coming back to my home (which is a work in progress) is an almost spiritual experience. The simplicity, peace and calm of it all is so restful. As a child I always loved the hush of libraries and art galleries. I find minimalism gives me that same emotion. I'm not just limiting myself to decor. I'm building a limited wardrobe which will consist of classic designs in neutral colours that mix and match. I'm going back to a dumb phone (I'm not on social media anyway). It great fun thinking of new ways I can add space and time to my life.
By the way, I love the tip about removing labels from items. It makes a huge difference.

To everyone posting rude comments saying how bored you are, how useless or colorless or wasteful these ideas are, why are you watching videos like this? Go somewhere else to watch and find entertainment. If you watched looking for tips, as I did, but if you didn't like the ideas, then go somewhere else and try other ideas, but there is no need to express every colorless, unhelpful, rude comment that flies into your heads. This creator is obviously trying solutions that are personally helpful for her and that she hopes will help other people. Not all ideas are for everyone. Please keep your comments respectful and kind.

I especially like the idea of removing labels. "I don't need to show where I got something." Yes, indeed.

I like the way Benita Larsson did not feature herself in this video. This was about promoting her IDEAS, not HERSELF. That is rare and also refreshing in these home organizing videos on YouTube.

I love your show because you feature your actions and not just talk, talk, talk like other channels! Thanks!

“...involuntarily scanning and taking everything in.” This is so relatable and definitely stresses me out, too.

Your home is so beautiful, bright, and calming.

💛Hello from Los Angeles.

Some great tips, I have a difference of opinion regarding colour...
If you love colour, like me, you don't need neutrals to reduce visual clutter. I suggest choosing a colour palette for your interior that is ideally kept limited to 1-2 base colours and maybe 2 additional pops of colour. Staying strictly to your colour theme consistently throughout will still provide a sense of colour uniformity and provide the eye a chance to rest.

I love this. All feels so serene and calm and tidy and undistracting. To me it's not extra work, just finding smart objects and then it saves time and creates a really pleasant, focused atmosphere.

This video is one of my favorites!! You speak my language with straight lines, things hidden in plain sight and eye level picture hanging! Off kilter items and lots of visual clutter drives me nuts.

There is much to learn from your videos. Whether or not we are living as "minimalist" as you is not the point: Your ideas about storage, getting rid of clutter, and making spaces pleasing and soothing to the eye are very helpful to all, regardless of our own personal styles. Thank you!

A few months ago my desire of getting rid of visual clutter started, I could not explain why but I felt overwhelmed, I guess because my baby boy started walking and our apartment was a mess...after watching your video I feel relieved to find a name for that feeling 😁
Currently, after getting rid of some items and develop a cleaning routine that suits us, I have more time to enjoy with my boy and also for myself ☺️

Love this video. I started removing labels 20 years ago, way before I called myself a minimalist. It was such an amazing discovery back then how I could reduce visual clutter and stress. I would also advise to buy products that don't need packaging. Like a shampoo bar instead of liquid shampoo etc.

Your so right about colourful accessories i always used to aim for brightly coloured items that ended up looking less streamlined

Loved the visual calmness of this video. Btw did anyone else notice how she pulled out the same drawer four times, just organized differently!

We accomplish a minimalistic life in our tiny home but still enjoy color. Our palette of aqua blue, orange and yellow on a background of white, cheers us all year long. Our spaces are clutter free but we have a few pieces of colorfully happy art on the walls. Mid Century Modern vibe. I love the way you emphasize that there are different ways and levels of minimalism. Neutrals bring some people peace and calm but others need pops of color to add a vibrant note to our decor. Love, love, love your channel
