I think the fad of minimalism has had a positive impact on so many of us even if we didn’t jump in headfirst and start living with only one spoon one fork and one knife. Ithink it inspired a lot of us to look at what we have, consider parring back, and really think about being more mindful of our stuff. And, while I certainly am not a minimalist in any way, I do appreciate the simplicity of having less clutter laying out. So, I haven’t rid myself of all my things, I’m always looking for simple ways to reduce the visual clutter in my life, and I thought I’d share those tips with you.

Suggestion for those of us who need access to odd and ends throught the day. I use a picnic basket for my vitamins, medications, hand lotion, wrist wrap, glasses... etc etc. I can take it with me in any room I need it in. Saves me time running back and forth to other storage areas and it looks really nice. Maybe because of my age I have Rx, ibuprofen, and other items I need all day long. Added a clip in light for middle of the night scavenging :)

Minamilism isn’t getting rid of your things, it is owning only what you use.

Decluttering and keeping surfaces clear helped me with anxiety

Our apartment is tiny and inexpensive. But we decided to splurge on details: we hired a handyman to get outlets where we need them so in our home no cables are in sight. Our TVs are hanging but their outlets are right behind so they just “float” wirelessly. Same with our router, it is on the top of a cabinet, out of plain sight and has its own outlet too. And finally we asked him to put wall lamps (modern and flexible) on our bed wall so we could read in bed with no cables and no need for nightstands. It is so clean and convenient… really worth it.

It’s been proven that clutter creates a feeling of chaos in the brain. You become easily overwhelmed by it and can bring along depression. Vice versa, depression can bring about the lack of ability to clean up creating more chaos. I finally learned this the hard way after losing my big brother, aunt and mum within 18 months. None virus related. I am tackling one specific area a day for a set time and it’s truly helping. My family now puts things away immediately because they know how much I detest things on my counters. Go slow, keep up with what you’ve already accomplished and you’ll find yourself not avoiding things or overwhelmed. * I changed “tings” 🤦‍♀️😂

I’ve been working at this for years 😅😬. My family is really good at undoing the places that I get sorted and I end up using most of my time redoing things I’ve already done and decluttering further, but with 6 people besides myself I’m vastly outnumbered. It’ll get there someday, but I have a feeling it’s when my sweet kids are grown 🥲.

Love your tip about giving things a home even if you’ll be using them relatively soon. It seems like any time I start a craft project, life happens and I have to put it on hold for a while, but I never end up putting things away because “I’m going to get right back to it!”. Of course, it ends up languishing in limbo for days or even weeks. Now, everything goes into it’s own little drawer or bin at the end of the day, even if I’ll be using them the next day—none of my bits and bobs get lost, and I don’t have to look at them all the time.

I totally agree with measuring first before you buy bins!!!! Im always measuring something lol. Ill put the measurements in my notepad in my phone so when I go to the stores i know what sizes i need. And i also have a keychain measuring tape in my purse so i can measure the bins or whatever it is that im looking for to make sure the measurements are right😁

Thank you for sharing your wonderful wisdom. You are such a young mother with a Bright Mind. At my older age I still learning and getting Great ideas from you. Thank you again.
For the open shelf system in your bathroom, you can get a curtin that laids flatulence over them. Use a Tension rod. If you don't want to spend the money on a curtin just a piece of fabric over the rod would work. Or putting velcro on the ceiling and the fabric going down. I have an open shelf system in a rental apartment and I have used a tension rod to hide. Yet, we started using it as a places to hold extra clothes for drying.

I love your videos! my kitchen table has turned into a mountain of stuff. I was getting the entire kitchen and pantry organized...life happened and now I have months of junk to go through. This is the first organizational video that addresses the stuff that doesn't already have a home which is my major problem. My last house was always pretty tidy because I had a place for everything but when we moved into this one, I haven't been able to crack the storage code. I like your suggestions, however and will put them to use in my home for the clutter that remains after a major clean out. Thank you for actual useful information!!!

Spot on about the packaging of items being removed when at home- that is the first thing I do once I take my groceries out of the bags. I do it at home to save space as well as time- why open a box of cereal just to open a bag, when the box can go into the recoiling minutes after it enters my home. I have only thought of the visual aspects of this at the store itself, there are some aisles so visually assaulting to me I have no idea what's even there- but ever aisle has this going on these days, it's exhausting. Thank you for bringing this up, no other videos I've seen over the years address the packaging's visual effect specifically, A+.

I love the clothespins in the cabinet for the receipts. I think that would help me a lot. Especially with cats who think every piece of paper is a toy. Great tip. Thank you.
