It’s sad that there are some students who are passionate enough to make their dreams come true but their financial issues prevent them from doing so

Joke. "How do know if a person you just met went to Harvard?" Answer: "He will tell you almost immediately after introducing himself."

I don't know, I'd rather get an education at Monsters University

You are basically paying for the name really more than the actual education.

Can we just take a moment and appreciate those that said "first", you guys are absolute heroes. Thank you.

When you pay for an education you're not really paying for the actual know-how. You're paying to convince others that you know the actual know-how even when you don't. And Harvard does that job very nicely and so therefore it is expensive.

I couldn’t afford college so I started my own business. I’m making a lot, learned to network, enough for my own small home, and time for leisure. There are other ways to make it.

Two thoughts: At my state school a long time ago by today's standards room and board was something like $800/month all told. I got an apartment a 4 min walk away for $350. Some people would drive from the dorms to park further away than I walked. Second, if at all possible, this anecdote says it all; I had a community college instructor at a 101 level who said in no uncertain terms she also teaches the exact same course with the same exact everything at that place where we paid maybe $3, 000 for the year and at another local private school where it was more like $45, 000/year.

I get why you would want to go all in on your 4 year stint but if you find it odd that the rich store doesn't show price tags, money is an issue for you and you don't need to pay $19/min to repeat 9th grade math.

this is exactly why I went into the military, only 19 years old and I’m in no debt with my second year in college

Degrees you don't need to have to make 6 figures a year:

•Truck driver
•welding
•Logging
•Construction formen
•Big Machine handler (operator)
•Lineman
•Dump operators
•Electrician
And so on all these are what are known as tradesmen jobs meaning sure you start out low but, sit it out for 5 years or so you'll make 6 figures like for example; "Lineman start out as at $15/hr for only 2 month but, after that they make 65, 000/yr. Truck drivers can make long haul immediately $165, 000/yr" so a degree isn't everything..
