A shorter way is ..Just do a reciprocal on both sides. and separate terms.

In the Q. We are asked with ratio/Fraction of n:m so you could even transfer like this:
-2m=n
-2=n/m
(Here is your answer!)

very cool. im studying Trig on my own from books now. Saddly in the US the schools all are utterly dependent on graphing calculators.. The text books are.not just 600$ but also are essential nothing short of a manual for whatever the calculator the school is selling.

From the equation, can we assume that m=1 and 3m-n=5?
3m-n=5
3(1)-n=5
n=-2

n/m=(-2)/1=(-2)

I made the reciprocal of the equation (3m-n)/m=5; 3 - n/m = 5
Finally transposing n/m then getting 3-5=-2

Instead of plugging in (-2m) for n, you could've taken (-2m) = n and divided m, giving you -2=n/m, which was the question. I love finding more than one way to solve a problem, even if it's not drastically different.

This can be figured out “by inspection”. (Mental “eyeballing”) by dividing both sides of the fraction on the left by m. This leaves you one on top and 2- n/m as the denominator, which in order to equal 5, requires that n/m = -3

Um, shareholder percentage?? What is shareholder percentage and dividends?

m / (3m - n) = 1 / 5 ;
Divide top and bottom of the LHS by m
1 / (3 - (n / m)) = 1 / 5 ;
So left denominator = right denominator
3 - (n / m) = 5 ;
So
n/m = -2

m/3m-n = 1/5 => m=1
3m-n=5 => 3*1-n=5 => n=(-2)
n/m = -2/1 = -2...
Why overthink it...

You could also apply ^-1 to each side, then cancel 3m with m, then you'd have n/m=-2.
Good Lord, I'm smart... 😂

Better u reverse both side .. now very easy to find

-2m=n, divide by m on both sides:
-2=n/m

I did this by comparing LHS and RHS I.e.
Given: m/( 3m - n) =1/5
So let LHS numerator = RHS numerator I.e.
m=1
And LHS denominator = RHS denominator I.e.
3m - n = 5 ( now putting value of m from above, we get)
3(1) - n =5
3 - n = 5
n = -2

Evaluating n/m we get -2/1
I.e. -2

Is this a wrong method 🤔

Actually you could just ÷m by both side to get the answer

I got to it like this:
seperate: m/3m - m/n = 1/5
flip: 3m/m - n/m = 5
simplify: 3-n/m = 5, -n/m = 2, n/m = -2

Sir please upload shorts on integration

Cancel m in the lhs giving 1/(3-n/m)) = 1/5
X multiplying 5= 3-n/m
Thus n/m= -2
