Cross Multiplying Fractions

Hey guys! Welcome to this video on how to cross multiply fractions. Well, to cross multiply them, you multiply the numerator in the first fraction times the denominator in the second fraction, then you write that number down. Then you multiply the numerator of the second fraction times the number in the denominator of your first fraction, and you write that number down.

Can we please take a moment to point out how awesome this woman is for not only explaining this process effortlessly but doing it while writing backwards? I had to watch this twice because I was so impressed!

Thank you very much, I'm currently in the process of enlisting in the Army and will be taking the Asvab within the ensuing month, math is not my best subject. But Mometrix Academy makes it so much easier to understand and grasp, I've learned so much from watching your tutor videos. Unlike frustrating Khan Academy who always over complicates math problems and gets side tracked with hypothetical BS... You guys are outstanding and earned yourself another subscriber.

I am 32 years old and studying for the IBEW Aptitude test, trying to refresh my brain on simple math. I wish that you had been my math teacher in middle school because it didn't make sense to me then. Thank you!

Great video. Helping my 5 grade daughter with multiplying fractions. At 50 years old I couldn't retrieve the forgotten knowledge buried deep in my brains file cabinets. This video brought it all back to me. Thanks! New subscriber as I am sure I will need more help over the next several grades.

Why do you have equal sign there, between fractions that are not equal?
AFAIK equal sign must mean balance in all cases.
I am just trying to understand if there is something that I overlook.
Thank you for your answer in advance!

Maybe would be helpful if you can show an example of cross multiplication with a negative numerator or negative denominator. Thanks

How come I see people multiply the numerator with the other numerator instead of crossing multiplying

adding more than three fractions with different denominators perhaps does not work by cross multiplication. However, if I am incorrect, kindly illustrate. Thanks.
