Courthouse surveillance video shows an Oregon murder suspect sprinting away from bailiffs after they unshackled him in court — a requirement under state law — then escaping the building and prompting a massive manhunt. Edi Villalobos Jr., a 28-year-old accused of murder and a slew of other felonies, was supposed to stand before the court for the start of his trial. Instead, he ran down the hallway and out an employees-only exit, video shows.

There should've been a guard at the door

I think the jury has seen enough for a guilty verdict

For an accused murderer, it's amazing that they didn't station anyone at the door or position themselves between the accused and available exit points.

This is why police officers should be required to maintain a certain level of fitness, especially when chasing someone. They were running slow af.

This is actually part of Portlands process once someone’s arrested. Just a tad bit quicker.

Why escape? Judge would of probably let him out on a small bail

THAT WAS JUST TOO EASY.
AND A MURDER SUSPECT TOO! THEY UNCHAINED HIM, FULLY & GAVE HIM A CLEAR EXIT ALL THE WAY. GREAT SECURE BUILDING I MUST SAY.

Well… you gave him the opportunity and he took it.

I thought cops had to do a physical fitness test every few years, maybe they should lay off the doughnuts

From my experience, the court officers are always the older officers who put in some good years and then promoted to this cushy position as they have seniority.

Well I think that answers the question of his guilt

That is ridiculous, there should be an automatic lock on all exit and entry doors the second that happens.

From the moment he started running, they should have played Benny Hill.

Who, as police, take off restraints from prisoners during their appearance in court?
