Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X Screen Comparison (SAMOLED vs. SLCD2)

In this video, I compare the Super AMOLED screen on the Samsung Galaxy S3 to the Super LCD2 screen on the HTC One X (EVO 4G LTE variant). Both screens have HD resolution, as in they are 1280x720, but since the screen is slightly bigger on the SGS3 the PPI is a little lower at 306 compared to 312 PPI on the One X.

The results I got from this comparison are: the screen on the HTC One X (SLCD2) is brighter and sharper. The screen on the SGS3 (SAMOLED) has better and deeper blacks. Overall, both screens are great. You just have to decide which advantage you prefer.

It's considered a one X variant for sprint and it got the same screen as the international one X.

let me explain then :) amoled screens (super amoled plus is not included) use a pentile matrix for the pixels, that means all pixels have 2 subpixels instead of 3, red-green-blue-green (sometimes white is also included) again..basically it means pentile screen does not have the whole RGB pixel arrengement..But LCD displays and super amoled ''plus'' displays have these, that means all the pixels have their own 3 subpixels, blue, red and green :D I hope that will help a little bit :)

No, actually. You are mistaken. That is the Sprint version of the HTC One X, called the EVO 4G LTE. The specs are similar, but the two phones are not the same and look nowhere near the same.

i have a one x and my wife has an S3 and i can tell you that the one x ha a much sharper screen.and has anyone else noticed how screen space is wasted on the S3 because of the arrangement of the icons ?nice effort uploader however its harder to compare the screens on video.

Thank you so much for making a video about the screens! I absolutely hate the pentile displays that they have put in a lot of the phones recently. They all claim to be sharp HD screens when in reality all you see is the shitty pentile matrix and no sharpness whatsoever on the phones. But, I have to say, the S3 has such high resolution that the matrix is almost unnoticeable which makes me happy.

Guys evo Lte and one x is basically the same thing. Just different carries really.

One X - Better whites, brightness and sharper image. As well as more natural colours.
S3 - Better blacks

Also the One X screen is actually IPS (SLCD2 is just marketing)

it has a blue tint cause you have the power saving mode on it dimes the colours on the browser to save power

Rgb arrangement vs pen tile Rgb is better because a pixel has its own sub pixel in the amoled they share a green one

Hi guys, if any of you here has galaxy s3, you might have notice a dark spot on the display when you are in dark room while applying dark background on your s3....

Don't listen to him, you won't lose any quality if you put a wet-install screen protector on it but you might lose some quality if you put a glass one.

looks obvious to me that the SGs3 screens keeps pixelating every time you zoom in thats what happens when you have a true ppi of 203

that's EVO 4G not One X actually but they have exactly same screens so no problem :)
