Arch Linux: choosing a partition scheme

In this video, I am covering the different partition schemes for Arch Linux by exploring the differences between MBR and UEFI systems, and DOS and GPT disk labels. I am also going to put these in practice on the terminal.

Thanks for putting out so many videos! I could never install arch with a desktop, but following your tutorial I installed it with MBR and xfce4 in a vm, and after I was happy I decided to do it on my laptop with UEFI and xfce4. I’m enjoying it so far, thanks for the amazing content.

Hi there, i have a problem regarding arch*, i have nvidia drivers and nvidia-utils installed, but the browsers seems that they don't decode videos trough the gpu, but the flags ("browser"://flags) show that i have hardware acceleration enable, so, all the decoding is done by the cpu and any 1080p decode puts the cpu load around 70% and its really annoying, do you have any idea how to fix this? btw va-api and vdpau reports full hw support.

I am puzzled. In the "UEFI with GPT disk label" example, the "root partition" is mounted at /mnt. Does that mean that the directory on my fedora system called /usr/bin would be accessed on this virtual Arch machine via the pathname /mnt/usr/bin? I was expecting the "root partition" to be mounted at /, but obviously that was an incorrect assumption. Can someone enlighten me please?

Ok, 22 minutes later and I'm watching "Dual Booting Windows 10 and Arch Linux on UEFI" and the same thing is happening, so that after mounting the root partition at /mnt and generating fstab, the results are viewed using "cat /mnt/etc/fstab"; but lo and behold in the output of cat, the root partition /dev/sda5 is listed as mounted at / as it should be. But how did it get there when I just saw that it was mounted at /mnt?

Finally watched all of the Arch Linux videos, super happy :D
This video in particular is amazing!

It will take me some time to finish that file but once I do I am sending it to you.

Besides that, the Pacman Progress Bar thing ... The guy who created it doesn't respond. Some speculate that it is a wallpaper, Photoshop ... Who knows.

In the end, once I finish the making of a file I will ask you questions, give you suggestions for further videos ... Stuff like that.

Besides these videos which are really helpful and Arch wiki, is there a Book that you would recommend for learning Linux in general? Commands, this and that ..

Thanks and have a nice day :)

I used dd to create my swapfile, fallocate wasn’t working and Arch wiki explains how to create with a sequence of commands.
It’s so simple with dd, do you agree?
