Britain Invaded By Raccoon Dogs

Meanwhile in Britain... they are under attack by raccoon dogs! John Iadarola and Dan Evans break it down on The Damage Report.

"Raccoon dogs, an exotic member of the fox family that is native to Japan, China and Siberia, are one of the most destructive invasive species at risk of becoming established in Britain, experts say.

A “horizon scanning” study funded by the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs identified the raccoon dog and the raccoon as the only mammals on a list of 20 invasive species likely to reach UK shores and destroy native wildlife or bring disease."

Hate to break it to you John, farmed for fur doesn't mean they were sheared like sheep, it means they killed and skinned them.

It's so adorable that John thinks the way we harvest their fur is by shearing them like sheep. Oh, Bless him.

I don't think you know what they mean when they said the racoon dogs were used for fur. They didn't shave them, they killed and skinned them.

Farmed for fur. Doesn't that mean they get skinned? As opposed to shaved like sheep?

Yeah John, when they say farmed for fur, I don't think they were being shaved. 😢

I wish John would stick to talking about US politics, everytime he does a Meanwhile he shows how ignorant he is about other things.

Invasive species can cause the extinction of endemic species. Not just their prey but everything in that ecosystem.

Everybody loves bunnies, right? Everyone except farmers, and especially Australian farmers. Rabbits reach plague proportions and eat damned near everything - this despite aggressive hunting and even biological controls (biological warfare). If something earns an "invasive species" label, it's for a good reason.

They're cute, but invasive species can be bad news to the environment.

Aww, oh no, no innocent John... Farmed for fur does not mean shaving them...

Rabbits are cute. Look what they did to Australia.

Farmed for fur isn’t like sheep being sheared for wool.... they’re skinned like mink... not so cute, eh?

It may be cute but not necessarily a good thing if invasive - please do a little research on the chaos invasive species (plants & animals) bring onto ecosystems. Hippos can be considered cute but ask Colombians in Medellín… Also, farmed for fur isn’t cute… they don’t shave them… they skin them!! They aren’t treated as sheeps are. The process is more like the one used on minks, cows, snakes and crocodiles. 1 hide = equals 1 death + pretty horrible living conditions for the animal.

The moment when John thinks that "farmed for fur" means that you shave the animal.

Hate to break it to you, but 'farmed for fur' DOESN'T mean shearing like sheep....
It means killed and skinned, like mink, John!

We get murder hornets and they get raccoon dogs. Why do we get the Florida man karma?

They are not pets. They are wild animals being released and hurting native animals. This is the definition of invasive and destructive. Wild animals being raised for fur is also barbaric.

Usually raising animals for fur Usually means skinning animal, not shearing them

Farming them for fur does not involve shaving them, it involves bludgeoning or electrocuting them and skinning them, in some cases skinning them alive.
