I'm Bosnian, recently became US citizen and we are moving soon to Nicaragua and will be applying for citizenship there as well, my husband was born there and we have investments. Never thought I'd end up there, but it's exciting 😁

Imagine when you entering a country the border control checking your stuff, they found a dozen of passports, then they lock you up and spend 2 weeks going thru each of them…

Born with three citizenships, have citizenship by residence in two countries and currently investigating a CBI program and one by ancestry. Wish me luck!

If you were born in Malaysia, you are Malaysian citizen. But later in life, when you acquire another citizenship, e.g. Australian citizen, then you lose your Malaysian citizenship. Malaysia does not allow dual citizenship.

Yeah, of course it's exactly as I suspected.

Being half Italian and half dutch, I was allowed to have dual citizenship as a kid, but at 18yo I was asked to choose between the two.

I was wondering if there was a way to reverse that and get my dutch passport back.... 😔

I wonder how many countries require an oath of allegiance in addition to lawful behavior. Presumably, you and your citizen children are subject to any draft and other wartime laws. Switzerland allows dual citizenship when one's other country also does. All Swiss citizens are conscripted into military service upon reaching the age of majority. Georgia has a year of mandatory military service for men.

I am the exception. I would want St. Lucia's passport and get rid of my Austrian one, in order to be freed from military service in the reserves. And also to get rid of whatever taxmonster will arise in the EU's future.

for germany: the restriction mentioned would apply if german citizenship is obtained by naturalization: you have to forsake your former citizenship, but lot of exceptions exist. some countries would just outright deny your wish of renouncement of the "former" one, so germany will wave that requirement.
all other EU citizenships + Switzerland are also excempt. :)
for CBI example: if a german would aquire St. Kitts and Nevis or whatever citizenship outside of EU/Switzerland: loss of german citizenship on the spot UNLESS the citizens asked nicely to keep german citizenship AND asked *prior* to the naturalization abroad. still in german gov discretion to grant that
if a german citizen was born where _ius solis_ is a thing: that's cool too. you cannot be blamed for your place of birth ;)
