The United States finds itself already in one proxy war in Ukraine and dangerously close to waging two more proxy wars in the Middle East and Taiwan. Proxy wars have been waged for thousands of years and the United States is no stranger to them. Having both been a proxy and used proxies to its advantage and having experienced both success and failure in proxy wars, the United States must reflect on its past experiences before waging three separate proxy campaigns and to avert the devastating consequences of proxy warfare.

The term proxy war devalues alliances and international friendships. The danger is that by misunderstanding proxy wars you not only have the wrong goals, you start off with the wrong capabilities and will to win.

U.S. can’t simply withdraw its involvement from other regions. That will bring a global level instability and further worsen the U.S. in the long term. U.S. isolationism was tried and it failed before.

1:06 proxy wars can have benefits but it's not fair to use the people who are in a worse situation than you are to try to advance your own position at their expense.
People are not tools to be used and discarded and this is how you can tell...
You just flip the script and if it's not okay then it's not okay period.
