At first I was like "what...? I can do that no problem " then I remember I have hypermobility and that's most likely the reason why I am on sick leave for the last 3 weeks

Here’s a list of all the sh!t I can do cuz I’m too flexible to exist:
- wrap my leg over my neck
- touch my shoulders together in front of my chest (yes, I do have a collarbone. It was shown on x-rays 😅)
- touch my palm to my shoulder
- touch my toes standing up
- elbows can extend beyond 180 degrees (well except my right elbow because I broke that a while ago, but still)
- I can literally not stretch any of my muscles. I’m so flexible that I can’t. Fvcking. Stretch. And being in marching band makes my life ten times worse because of that😅
- halfway dislocate (it doesn’t hurt tho): my thumbs, all fingers, my knee, both shoulders, hips, my wrists, and all of my toes.

Now that I think of it, there’s actually probably something severely wrong with me 😅

I have more, but I can’t really think of them.

As someone with EDS, it never occurred to me that people couldn’t do this

Me: lol yes you can
Dana: ...a sign of Ehlers Danlos syndrome...
Me: oh right... yeah...

I just tried it and can do it, and then came the hyper mobile explanation and was like oh, that makes sense

As a "zebra"/EDS-er, I was thinking, "Some of us can - but you don't want to be in that club!" 😬

*immediately touches palm to shoulder* 😅
While I'm not diagnosed with anything, I have no doubt I have a connective tissue disorder. I can do the thumb to the forearm thing on both hands and can easily put my palms on the ground. My SI joint is annoyingly shifty and pops LOUDLY, especially since I'm 8 months pregnant. I can easily rest my knees on my shoulders, turn off light switches with my feet, and one arm can scratch that spot in between my shoulder blades. Idk if this is related, but I have a broken 8th rib on my right side because I had a bad coughing fit about 3 weeks ago, so that sucks.
No doctor has ever seemed to care, though.

Yup! Zebra, here. Palm to shoulder, no problem! I’m always glad to see young doctors being aware of EDS(H). Thx!

Hypermobility alone DOES NOT mean ehlers danlos syndrome!! As someone who suffers extreme disability because of EDS wrecking every system in my body, I'm tired of people acting like they might have it because they're a bit bendy. EDS is not something you THINK you MIGHT have and if you do, then it's likely it's hypermobility spectrum disorder. I was told this by my geneticist one of the best in the world who said EDS is currently being over diagnosed making the lives of people like me so much more difficult.

I have hypermobility to some extent and I had no clue others couldnt do that. Reminds me of when I got surprised others couldnt scrub their backs normally.
