We need to talk about MAID, or Medical Assistance in Dying. It's a program that allows you to decide when you want to end your life, and in some cases, the government even encourages it.

Please know must of us Canadians do not want this. They have put an indefinite hold on using maid for mental health and poverty. Which they tried to pass it. I can understand for terminal illness, but the Trudeau government has been pushing hard to allow it for whatever reason.

As a Canadian, thank you for talking about how far the MAID program has gone. The government doesn’t currently care and we need to keep this in mind every time we go to the polls.

I am going to be 20 next year and I have been 4 times suicidal since the age of 12. Why I'm bringing something up so personal is not only in relevance to the topic but also to instill the idea that suicide is NOT something to EVER encourage people to do and it completely rids the potentiality of a future a person is worthy of having. This is absolutely horrible and attention MUST be brought to this sort of thing.

My mom’s husband once came across a man about to jump on the Golden Gate Bridge. He looked at him for awhile, the guy looks back saying, ”….. well are you going to tell me to stop, to not jump?”. Her husband replies something along the lines of, “No, you can go ahead and jump if you want. I won’t stop you.”. It shocked the man so much that he got off and started to talk to my mom’s husband. Years went by and they ran into eachother. Dude apparently got help, got functional, started loving life. He even got married apparently.

What I’m trying to say is that people may “feel” like they want to kill themselves, but they don’t want to really die… they want their pain to go away, they want help. So this MAID program, these assisted suicide (murder) programs are disgusting, they are straight up predatory.

As someone who has tried to "end it" three times, years and years ago.. I watched a documentary about MAID expanding to depression a year or two ago, and I have never been so filled with rage. Ever. I had to pause and walk away a dozen times. Because I would have taken that option, easily. I'm a good talker, so I know I would have gotten an approval. And now in hindsight I know that state of mind wasn't permanent.. Every time I hear about this that rage comes back.

Patricia Engler from AIG refers to MAID as SHAM (Sanctioned Homicide Actualized Medically). I think that's a much more fitting title for such an abominable practice.

Having assisted suicide as an option, also puts pressure on people to choose it so they aren't a burden. I watched a story on a young woman going through it once, and when she talked about it, it was clear it wasnt for herself so much as the people around her. Not that they had even pressured her or wanted it, but she felt that way. Sad.

OMG! Thank you so much for addressing this!! I fell like most people in the US have no idea what is truly going on.

Deciding on life is a personal choice. But for any medical personnel to be involved is wrong. DO NO HARM. And government should never be involved in ending people's lives.

I live in Canada, and I am still a minor, I’ve had stomach issues since I was a child, so my mother took me to the hospital. The doctors didn’t know what to do and told me that I should get a colonoscopy and stay the night at the hospital, my mother was skeptical and left, then her friend said that the man who wanted to do the colonoscopy on me was not a very good man. Later we went to a doctor we have trusted for years and she said that I had no reason to get a colonoscopy and that those doctors were very wrong, I haven’t had many stomach issues since and I am so glad that I have a doctor I can trust. I know this isn’t that serious, but it’s still gross to think that doctors were trying to make a young girl who wasn’t in much pain go through an invasive procedure and stay the night.

Scary thing is I would have definitely pursued assisted death at one point.

As a Canadian, I'm absolutely appalled by this. The government doesn't care about it's people.

That woman's laughter in this interview is truely unhinged and horrifying. This is eugenics in action and it is evil!
Also, a truly seemless ad transition. Chef's kiss, my friend! 👩🏻‍🍳

I once had a patient from Canada, she had been on the list for a knee replacement for a couple of years and was in a lot of pain, she mentioned to her doctor "I can't live with this pain anymore" and the doctor responded "we have a program that can help you if that's what your looking for". It's been a while since I left medical school, but we used to learn to "First do no harm", guess that's not the case anymore.
