I DROPPED Chrome awhile ago in favor of Firefox on my Windows and Android devices. Firefox is NOT linked in any way to Google, and just eliminates that severe level of TRACKING and data collection and SELLING that Chrome does because it's GOOGLE! The other thing that I dislike about Chrome is you CANNOT install extensions on the Android platform, and that absolutely SUCKS! I have ALL the same extensions installed on my PC's and Android devices like uBlock Origin, Ad Block, and a few other anti-tracking extensions and even my Anti-Virus/malware software. As with Chrome EVERYTHING "syncs" between devices on Firefox and I can easily switch from one device to another and continue on where I left off WITHOUT consuming SO many resources AND with a good PURCHASED VPN yields WAY better protection and less tracking. You CANNOT eliminate ALL tracking but, dumping Chrome is a GREAT start!

Also, I do NOT use the Google search engine whenever possible and use Duck-Duck-GO...

Hi Chris, Great video.

If you do this pushing the power button will be like a restart

In search type "Power plans, " open it. then on the left, click "Choose what the power buttons do" Then you will see "Turn on fast start-up (recommended)" and Hibernation is ticked/check-marked, but it is greyed out. Above that you will see "Change settings that are currently unavailable" Click that untick/uncheck "Turn on fast start-up (recommended)" (agree to Turn off)
and untick/check Himbenate" and click "Save changes"

Restart via the power button, if you go to Task Manager and "Performance" under CPU, you will notice the Up time will start from all zeros and be counting up.

Hope that helps.

Yeah mine says 66% too. Wow why isn't this the top promoted video on YouTube? Seeing that you're helping them with their customer service. Big tech right now is really trash.

I've recently switched to Brave browser. Yes it's based on Chromium (like Chrome) but it seems to run much faster than Chrome with uBlock Origin. (Brave has an inbuilt adblocker but seems to be less impacted than the Chrome setup with uBO). Apparently it's something to do with the proposed change to Manifest v3 ... rumour has it that the Chrome/uBO (and similar) setup is being deliberately slowed down to try and reduce the ad blocking.

Re. shutdown vs restart ... you can enable a setting in Windows that makes a shutdown do the same as a restart. 🙂

The big question is, what's so special about Chrome? smh

Hold shift and, at the same time, shutdown. That properly shuts down Microshaft's Winblows

Most excellent Informative Video - especially the pre Win10's alternative Browser to Chrome. 13:20, careful on Win11 & Mcafee / Windows defenders saying Site is dangerous and Execs contain virus / blocking the downloads

I just got an ad from Google yesterday saying that Chrome was Virus Free... 😐

Uninstall chrome and in fact never install it back. If web browser requires me to set SUID bit, then it's far from being safe. And if that company tells me that this is for my "safety", then I am absolutely sure I cannot trust them. It's always great idea to grant highest privileges to something unknown that I cannot audit.

And downloading something from weird looking web pages and installing it is also great improvement to your safety.

Chris, my understanding is that if you hold down Shift and click Shutdown it will do a full shutdown rather than hibernate. Do you know if this is correct?

You would think the number one software in the world that connects to the internet, being the number one attack vector for hackers, would be updated automatically. ¯\(°_o)/¯

So does any of this affect an older version of Chrome that was the last ver to work on Windows 7?

*109.0.5414.120 (Official Build) (32-bit)*

Or is this just now coming to light on Win10/11 and newer versions of Chrome?

What about Opera? Same issues there???

Oh, what about on Android? (12 or 13 I think). Is this issue in Chrome there as well?
