Totally thought this was going to be a quick 8-minute review 😂

this printer is already far to expensive for what it is able to. and you still have to buy extra stuff like the nozzle to use it the way you want to. there is no possible excuse for the price. the prints look nice but the prints on my printer does that too and i did not even paid half the price. its the apple syndrom just for 3d printers.

If you buy a Prusa you pay for:
- printer
- prusaslicer
- support
- database (printables)
- open source
- firmware updates
—> please add what I missed

It might be nice but my Anycubic Vyper with auto bed level, touch screen, 250x250x275 build plate, magnetic build plate and full size sd card prints just as well and i got mine new for under 200 usd.

People that talk about the price must not understand that you make back the extra money spent because of the quality of your projects.. I mean that’s the point isn’t it?

before either camps attack me, I have Prusa machines that are great, I have an X1C that I love. I'm not brand loyal...I'm good 3D printing loyal. With that being said though, I really wished Prusa would have re-evaluated the value proposition with the new generation MK4. I think Prusa makes a very solid machine that even with the Mk4 advancements, feel outdated. while reliable, are extremely over-priced for the feature set. I would love to see prusa innovate to the point where their price feels like they have value or consider pricing decreases to be more competitive. My X1C produces as good prints but with less faults than the MK4 at a fraction of the print time. I'd really love to see the MK5 shake up the industry because I'm routing for Prusa but cant recommend them this generation.

this isnt a password for the machine, its the API key for pursa connect

When I searched for products other than those made in China, only PrusaMK4 was left, so I made a reservation.

Thanks for the review, really interesting! It's funny, the one feature I found particullary helpful is the led indicator. It is just great to take a quick look into the workshop: blue - working, green - finished, yellow - out of filament, or red - something broke. It's like the lights on big industry machines. That being said, I came to the same conclusion, it is a great printer, but times have changed, and it is not a default recommendation over the alternative anymore.

sounds like another home run for prusa. My biggest caveats are the prices and print volume. When my ender 3 has a bigger build size at a 1/4 the price it's hard to justify. I have a P1P as well and it's an excellent printer at 1/2 the price.

This is in line with my experience with prusa machines. Very solid printers and they earned their reputation in the industry. It's just hard to justify the cost when other printers in that price range are very good too.

Prusa's are great printers, just too much for what it is at this point imo. If they dropped this printer by like $400 I'd jump on it in a heartbeat. I'm glad this one is working for you though :D

The quality is great but the price is crazy pants.

At 8:52, BINGO, thank you! This is what I want to hear. I really don't care about tremendous speeds like you get with the Bambu X1. I want to see examples of print quality.. for instance, does it produce vertical lines? Just how good does the final print look compared to other printers? The less post processing I can avoid is a good tradeoff for a machine like the MK4 giving me better quality prints and smother surfaces than the X1. And I wish someone would print either a large cylinder or cube (like a large X Y Z cube) using a color/gloss material that shows print details the best. Thank-you!

I think my biggest gripe with Prusa, at the moment, is they only sell in US$. All other competitors, or semi-competitors, are selling in Canada dollars. The their asking price, is their asking price! So the big deal? US$ to CAN$, it can vary from day-to-day, week-to-week, etc. If I were to purchase the same kit as you did, it costed you $1, 284.00 USD. At today's exchange rate (1.37), it would cost me $1, 759.08 CAN$. If hesitated and waited until next week, the exchange could be at 1.5, for a cost of $1, 926.00 - extreme example, but potentially possible. That's actually 27 bucks more than the Snapmaker A350T 3-in1 with a 320 x 350 x 220 bed. Or, $377 bucks more than a Bambu Lab X1 Carbon.

I own 3 Original Prusa MK3.5s, at the time they were worth the money because nothing compared them. They were the best, or near best, you could get at the time. I can't actually and truly say that any more. Price per value, they have become even more expensive, for what they offer, when compared to the modern market. It does make me sad, I enjoyed my time with my Prusa's; e.g. upgrading 2x 3.0's to 3.5s, etc. At this point, I can't even see me purchasing a MK4 upgrade kit at $579.00 (w/ shipping, taxes, etc.) and then exchange rate. Most certainly... not three! It makes me sad, but my next purchase will probably not be a Prusa! In reality, they're giving me no choice!

The MK4 is overpriced and unjustified for the same old tired design of the Prusa.

Glad to see better experience with the replacement machine ! We recently added the MK4 to our print farm and also added it to our Prusa Connect setup . It works amazing, super quiet, faster print times than the MK3S+ the first layer detection is putting out amazing first layers to build on . Definitely a move forward and very excited to get the upgrade kits for the MK3 machines .

Just got the Bambu X1 Carbon. I would choose it 1000x over the MK4. I have been so impressed with the prints and the quality of the printer overall.

this is nice! its really cool. it is very very cool to see that this fantastic printer has some pretty tough competition in Bambu. glad to see how much the printer space has exploded in the last few years. will most likely pick one of these when the next models are unveiled!

Regardless of whether the X1C or the MK4 is better, we should acknowledge that they represent significant advancement for everyone. Ten years ago, 3D printing was only hobby for experts and enthusiasts. However, this has changed thanks to new technologies, and it is now much easier for anyone to become interested in and participate in the world of 3D printing. Personally, I think both Prusa and Bambu are great because they both produce models that I have designed. A larger print area, like the one available on the Prusa XL, would still be welcome addition to my current printer.
