Republic Day 2023: On the occasion of India’s 74th Republic Day, Border Security Forces (BSF) of India and Pakistan Rangers exchanged sweets at the Attari-Wagah Border. Republic Day is celebrated on January 26 to commemorate the day on which the Constitution of India came into effect in 1950.

The Pakistani officer was LT Colonel while the Indian officer was Colonel or Brigadier hence Pakistani officer saluted first.
thats the mutual respect and honoring the rank regardless of which country you are from.
