Jennifer Lee was pushed into the exec position too fast. She made one hit, Frozen, and then they relied on her to make every hit for then on. Frozen 2, was bad. Strange World, sucked. Wish, became memed. I'm glad the director of Zootopia is taking over because he has a little bit more experience. I also prefer Zootopia's message over Frozen, it shows nuance that both children and adults can enjoy and that's what animation should be. Adults should have just as fun a time as their kids at the theatre.

The thing that is missing from Disney is creating movies with love and passion... not just for money!

Old Disney movies are known for caring about younger and older audiences, telling good stories, and having impactful messages. No wonder why they are hitting rock bottom!

When my daughter was 3 she LOVED Elena of Avalor… I always wondered why current day mid-Disney never made a theatrical Elena film - it would be “mid” for sure but I’d still be able to tolerate it… I guess… Disney sucks 🤣

What I think about Disney's A-political direction is not much by my reckoning.

I wouldn't call it A-political though, I'd call it ignorantly-blind-blaming-the-wrong-one-thing, when it was several things conspiring either on accident or not. So, nothing out of the ordinary for Disney, really.

A good story can have a message, a message can't be a good story.

Ideology in media isn't bad. The problem is that doing it wrong can annoy 40% to 100% of viewers and fans.
Disney has got it wrong for close to a decade and ruined multiple franchises. Now their reputation is the "woke" company that makes trash content. They realised that it's too late for them to "get it right" and wanna shift from that image to save whatever's left of them.

I knew nothing going in to the movie. But coming out of the theater there was immediate questions about the plot.
1. Why did the comet explode like fireworks?
2. Why was the bat girl not brought back in to the story?
3. Why did we never see the final boss?
4. Why did the finale with the island happen so quickly?
5. Where did the lightning strike come from that destroyed the hut and gave her the vision?
6. Did Moana die and become a demigod? It’s not clear what happened there.

I grew up in the 80's and 90's. It seemed like every week a good movie was released unlike today when they are few and far between. Maybe I'm just looking back through rose colored glasses.

Although Moana 2 will eventually make a profit at the box office, it looks like Moana 2 is inferior to its predecessor. In that case, Wicked will still remain top box office until Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will take over during Christmas. Gladiator 2 will also continue to perform well. History really started to repeat itself again. It’s kinda like back in summer 2023 when both Barbie and Oppenheimer became the box office champion, Haunted Mansion failed because it was overshadowed by Barbenhimer. To put it this way, Glicked is the Barbenhimer of the holiday season.

remember how Disney made the smart decision with tangled and gave them an entire series to flesh out world ideas and create new characters and even tried a new art style and everyone really liked it and managed to revive a fanbase... they should do that again.
