Demystifying Avoidant Personality Disorder

This video frames avoidant personality disorder (AVPD) in an everyday context showing us the emotions and thoughts of an affected individual on a day-to-day basis. This video also outlines the causes, related problems, and symptoms that one may feel. Furthermore, treatment options along with support resources are also outlined in this comprehensive video to serve as a central hub for adults and adolescents interested in this disorder!

This is probably the best video a I’ve seen on AvPD so far. I am diagnosed with AvPD. Every once in a while I search to see if anyone is making new videos about it lol. It’s such an under-recognized condition. The only reason I was diagnosed was because for YEARS I googled about what was wrong with me because the condition social anxiety alone didn’t explain my whole experience. So I finally found the term and was able to explain it to my mom and be taken to a psychiatrist where I was formally tested for mental illnesses and sure enough, I was diagnosed.

No one understands how disabling anxiety can be. You’re treated as either weak, or overplaying it. And called a freeloader for not working because of it, and told you need to “grow up”. As if living everyday in fear is somehow childish.😮‍💨

I believe I have avpd and bpd but so far has been diagnosed with bipolar 2 disorder and c-ptsd.

I’m a mother of two and I need help!! to prevent my kids becoming like this any tips or suggestion to a parent with avpd.
Any survivors of a parent with a AVPD I could really use it. My biggest fear massing up my kids mentally.
