No Delta operator ex or current would ever bad mouth the SAS. Because that would just be to embarass themselves within the SF community

The SAS have never been focused mainly on domestic work. There is always a squadron on anti terrorism stand by (as seen in action in the Iranian embassy), the rest of the regiment is assigned the whole range of military SF missions world wide. This has always been the case, people were just far less aware of the SAS until they were caught on camera in the 1980 Iranian embassy siege gaining worldwide coverage.

I worked with ODA 312 in Afghanistan ‘05, there were SAS/SBS elements cohabiting with us. The U.S. SF cats scrubbed a mission because one of their vehicles was running poorly. Similar situation with the brits, they just left the one vehicle and took the people and weapons. Left their food, sleeping bags, etc. No comfort for the blokes who didn’t have their vehicle prepared, but not doing the mission wasn’t an option.

Embarrassing lack of respect. Knowing that the two of you are fans of all of this SF stuff, serious question: are you both being deliberately thick, or are you actually thick?
SAS were more domestic orientated? Let's start with this: Lesson 1. The SAS were established in 1941 to fight behind enemy lines in North Africa.

The Americans learnt from the SAS and the British in general about special operations. All other units have strived to be like them or better . So I don’t understand the arrogance when the comment is made that the SAS are alright!

Click bait title, the word blunt has a negative connotation.

They're good? 😂😂😂😂 I think he means to say...the SAS/SBS set the standard that all others strive to follow.

A good place to start is reading what Delta's founder, Beckwith, wrote about the SAS in his book.

‘Good’ !?! They’re the blueprint for delta.. this guy seems reluctant to give SAS recognition they deserve as best T1 operators in the world and have been since they started it in the WW2!

I think he needs to look up the regiment’s history

I was on a British diesel boat (Diesel Submarine) in the 80's and we dropped off the SAS off the west coast of Scotland, They then had to paddle there canoes to the main land, another diesel boat dropped off the SBS and an american boat dropped off the SEAL team. They tabbed across Scotland to the east coast and the RAF were trying to locate them with thermal imagine devices- knowing the rout they were supposedly going- my boat picked up the SBS and SAS were picked up by the other British boat. I was helping one of the SBS guys with his kit when he asked me if i knew what happened to the SEALS. We later found out from the other boat that they had picked them up when they received there signal just an hour after getting dropped off. they had been run down by the Arran to Glasgow ferry. The captain then told them theyd take them close in to land and drop them off. but they said they were cold and wet and were going back to there base GEN Delta was formed because of the fuck ups in Iran. Our PARAS would shit on delta

SAS operate on both domestic and global fields. They wrote the book on what special forces are and yes there are many units that do various things but the SAS really are trained to work in any field and condition in an instant and its something i always love about them. They are the most humble men doing some of the most dangerous things to keep people safe

Spent eleven years in the forces and never knowingly met anyone from the SAS or SBS but they were there. I doubt very much that they are really bothered what the armed forces of other nations think of them as they know they are the best which they have proved time and time again.

The SAS are anything but home orientated 😂 they were fighting in the jungles and deserts of the world before Delta were conceived, they fought entire conflicts alone, not as part of a coalition or as part of a green army conflict.

Could be my mistake in thinking this...and stand to be corrected ...but in US assaults in hostage rescue there seem to have more casualties or fatalities of a hostage ...
