State Medical Colleges and All India Quota (AIQ) Colleges are two different types of medical institutions in India.

State Medical Colleges are government-run medical colleges that are typically funded and managed by the state government. These colleges admit a significant number of students from the state they are located in, and they usually have a certain percentage of seats reserved for students from that state.

On the other hand, All India Quota Colleges are government or private medical colleges that offer a certain percentage of seats to students from all over India, regardless of the state they belong to. These seats are filled through a centralized counseling process conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) for undergraduate medical courses like MBBS and BDS.

The major difference between the two is that State Medical Colleges primarily cater to students from the respective state, while All India Quota Colleges have a more diverse student population from different states across India.
