Isn't it crazy that most vinyl records cost almost double the price of a UHD 4K Blu-ray?!? add to the fact that many of today's vinyl pressings are sourced from digital source masters and you have to question; is it really worth it?

I'm loving the fact that I can get CDs for 50 cents at the thrift stores.

Relistening to music feels more probably than rewatching movies. I feel that drives allot of apprehension towards buying a movie instead of just renting/streaming it. The vynil may get more use, or be imagined as getting more use, which may influence buyer behavior.

Those were just regular 1080p Blu-Ray movies.

Honest question aren't all these albums mostly recorded on digital nowadays?

I still buy used, cassette, tapes just for the novelty being able to play something different but I wouldn’t buy vinyl over cds because a lot of the vinyl today was recorded from CDs quality and some of the young kids today who played vinyl records wasn’t even invest in a good player with a good needle so they want buy cds because computers killed that but for me computers won’t kill that blu ray and that 4K for me I still buy a lot of blu rays and some DVDs but I don’t really watch Netflix or any of that. I still believe the best media is physical. I’ve got thousands of blu rays and dvd’s

Price gouging became a byproduct during vinyl's rise in popularity. I remember when vinyl was affordable back in the 2000's and 2010's and didn't go higher than $30.00.

I think Sony’s Bravia Core streaming technology is going to be a game changer. Bringing Kaleidascape like quality to home streaming, Obsoleting disc formats with 80Mbps streaming speeds.

I really think Sony has the power to pull it off, not only did they already bring us the CD in partnership with Philips, but they make smart TV’s and they have a huge film catalog. So they own the barriers of adoption that other companies and formats would need to co-opt in partners for.

I would suspect Apple to follow suit. Probably 7-15 years later.

We quit buying 4k UHD some time
ago because of gouging prices.
I'll have to check vinyl prices tomorrow when I'm at the store.

People do not realize that today's vinyl is made from digital masters, which do not make then better than listening to digital music from streaming or physical media and the fact that there are many things added to the vinyl playback like surface noise from the stylus, lower signal to noise and limited dynamic range, without mentioning that needs good isolation so the needle do not pick up any other enviromental noises...

Um, those were regular 1080p Blu-rays.

I think because of the production costs vs. the overhead demands, it creates a more expensive market for a more niche consumer.

I saw a copy of the wall at a pawn shop cash converters here in Calgary, and it was like $55 and it was used. AC/DC albums are like 20 or more too

The amount of work required to make a movie will always be greater, because it will actually include as much music as an album before you even consider the acting and the picture.

However, the music album will be valued more highly, because it will stand to be played many more times before you become bored of it.

When you combine that replayability with the idea that vinyl is a rarity, and with the physical size and tactility of vinyl, you have several angles to extract sales from a serious collector and can really push the prices up.

I personally prefer CDs, though I did get a little caught up in vinyl in the late 90s and early 2000s. This was before the added flexibility of being able to rip hundreds of CDs and put them on a phone became a thing, and before the price of vinyl really shot up, and before I'd studied nyquist-shannon, when I still believed analogue might be better in theory.

It is crazy! Vinyl is so expensive anymore. I would like to believe movies have more production and cost involved than music vinyl.

The first record album I bought with my own money as a kid was $7.99, I still remember the price written in grease pencil on the plastic seal, this was about 1978. Adjusted for inflation that's about $40 today.

Ridiculous expensive why people pay so much is why they ask for that type of money. If people would stop buying them then the prices would be cheaper
