Took your advice and did some diving at one of the local shops. Scored OG Mono Prestige Creek Bank Mose Allison with RVG in matrix and Sealed 1987 Chess Reissue of Little Milton Sings Big Blues. Mose is so undervalued.

Right before COVID, I bought a huge collection of almost 3, 000 records, and approximately 1/3rd of it is old jazz records. There’s so many amazing titles on all kinds of different labels I never would’ve discovered if not for buying it. The guy who owned them before me had great taste, and now they’ve got a new loving home. Thanks, Ken! Great vid. 👍🎶🔊

Love your channel. My favorite out of all the VC channels! I’ve learned a lot here. I’ll be visiting the jazz record center when I’m in town for phish at the end of the year. Can’t freakin wait!!!

Hello Ken! Norway calling here. Great input, good reminders from you. OJC’s are a great way to buy yourself an audiophile jazz collection to a reasonable price. At least up to 1986, these are all mastered from the analogue tape.

Always love the old Contemporary titles and the Pablo stuff. Lots of avenues and alleyways to explore. Thanks for helping man the jazz LP ship! xo

I'll take your substance and content over style any day! I love how you do your videos in your apartment with records everywhere. It's real and honest and love the character it adds to your content. Don't change from that. The fancy glasses, and apartments with everything all set up has no baring on raw knowledge and insight. Keep up the good work, and if, anything do them more frequently.

One label, I love is CTI. They have a wonderful catalog. One of my favorite artist is Freddie Hubbard and, I personally think, some of his best works were done on CTI. I just was listening to Polar AC what a outstanding album. Thank you Ken for you're honestly, Audiophile albums are not the in all to be all. If stick to Blue Note, and the majors, I think your short changing your jazz collection. MPS is another label, I've been getting in to lately.

Bud, another great vid.
Am not sure what you're talking bc you're of the BEST in the VC COMMUNITY, offering hard facts, experience w/ actually viewing music groups, a near daily connection with vinyl & music lovers, a regular eye on (important to me too) audio hardware and gear, so on and so forth.

I know of VC Community cat or two that "take a traq" it SEEMS before they go on but they're fine too.

I wouldn't change a thing other keep them longer 15-45 minutes, partner up with others me (I'm able to add an articulate angle 🤷‍♂️

I too drummed until I got married. Collect lots of jazz, some 70s rock, some audiophile classical Yada Yada.
You're one of the best on these channels.

Good rant, Ken. I noticed you had stopped the giveaway month and it's a shame to hear it's cause people weren't engaging. I was one of the lucky ones that won and it made my day and I thought it was super cool you did this. Hope you resume - I'll happily try again if nobody else wants to play along! Scouring Goodwill is fun even if all i find are Barbara Streisand and opera. My best find the was Art Pepper meets the quintet and for 2.99 it's easily my best find ever. I can fathom who would have donated that, but I'll take it! Keep on being grouchy, please.

Roll Call is a tough one, you can’t get any pressing cheaply. I would love that to get reissued as a tone poet or classic!!!!

Jimmy Smith was such an incredible organ player. If anyone listens to “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf” album they may become a lifelong listener of his. I first heard this album when I was eight years old and that began my foray into Jazz.

I've been happily snagging Soul Note/Black Saint and Hat Hut LPs for years, and they've only started getting pricey in recent months (pandemic vinyl effect). Picked up a sealed 2xLP Dave Burrell for like 15 bucks the other day. Plenty of good stuff out there, and that's just scanning Discogs.

Great points Ken! At the beginning, I was reflexively buying all Tone Poets as they came out, but now I am much more selective (Do I really need yet another Lee Morgan?)

Also I love Pablo, which does not appear at all in fashion. But the quality of the recordings is generally excellent, and some of the often older players still doing fine work — e.g., Milt Jackson, Duke Ellington.

Well, I would advise you to try and find that extra info you could give us jazz afficionados that the cool guy with the glasses doesn't provide: e.g take a blue note new reissue and compare it to earlier issues, give a "if you liked this you'lle dig this", compare vinyl blu note to the reel tapes, with listening session shootouts..

I think it's great that you take your camera out to all sorts of NYC locales. But why did you shoot this in an old repair shop?
