Marty:
1. Mask goes over your nose and mouth
2. Hold the phone sideways
3. Glad you’re ok

Hero pilot. Kept her cool throughout. Wow. That's why pilots deserve excellent salaries. They have all those lives on their shoulders.

It's important to listen to the flight attendant's instructions on how to put a mask on.
That pilot is a damn hero, that military experience kept her cool I'm sure.

The captain was Tammie Jo Shults, a former naval aviator and instructor, the first woman to fly the FA-18 Hornet for the Navy. You couldn't have had a better qualified pilot to handle this. She's a badass.

I heard from 2 other passengers that the landing was basically like any other regular landing. Think you got that wrong. The pilot did a fantastic job and planes can land with one engine out.

the pilot deserves many kudos. She was absolutely stellar. I don’t see how anybody could have made that situation turn out any better than it did.

I disembarked from a Southwest flight from Pennsylvania just a few days before this flight. Honestly, Southwest is still the best airline, and I do not hold this against them. Mechanical failure happens. It's scary, and it's sad in this case because we lost a person. Hopefully this sets a new precedent for engine inspections.

My Uncle is a captain for SouthWest, formerly AirTran. He went to Texas for at least 3 months for heavy duty training and he already had 25+ years of flying experience. They train their pilots very well at SouthWest. I still believe they are one of the best airliners.

Tammie Jo Shults is a veteran military pilot, one of the very first women to fly fighters and now she is an even bigger hero. What an incredible display of airman ship in piloting a crippled passenger jet safely to the ground.

This is very scary and it must have been horrifying, but I wish people were more educated on aircraft as it may slightly lessen the stress. Maybe airliners could make the safety videos go a little more in depth, this would help a lot. And maybe even educate the flight attendants a lot more since most people look to see if they’re panicking. An airplane will not drop like a rock, unless there is a major malfunction in which the horizontal or vertical stabilizers fail and fall off or in a stall which doesn’t seem to be the case, or there are many things but too many to list. We do not yet know what made this aircrafts engine explode. And for the sudden drop in altitude, that was most likely the pilot decreasing altitude to save the people as oxygen masks only last for seconds. I’m going to make an educated guess that if the pilot made a smooth enough descent to make the drop feel unnoticeable, that the engine exploding may have caused a sudden force of drag causing the wing to dip down.
- Please let me know if I need to correct anything, as far as I know, my information is correct.
Im sorry if I was misunderstood about what I was saying, but I did not realize I needed to put specific details about how a plane does this, so I will add more information if there is more confusion.
Also, I’m not the best at putting my thoughts into words, so I am very sorry if you thought i was insulting those who panicked. Thanks.

Fuck. That's extremely unfortunate. I can't imagine what was going through the mind of the passenger that got sucked out. Hopefully she didn't feel too much pain. I'm never sitting next to the window seat on a plane ever again.
