Imagine you open every DVD and it's just copy after copy of Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium...

In my opinion, Clay intervening during the standoff was the ultimate point of the movie. The "useless" man manages to get them to step back from the brink of exactly what the attackers want people to do. He may be useless, but he was able to keep good people from going feral.

The White Lion was also the name of the ship that brought the first Africans to America in 1619. They also landed at Point Comfort, which is where the movie took place. Also when they’re in the car, the frequency at which they received the emergency broadcast was 1619.

11:29 I believe that’s one of the most important messages of the movie that many people are missing. Those who are searching for an ending are acting like Rose, the little girl who was desperate to find out the ending of “Friends” even though her world was falling apart. Maybe the movie writers want us to not care so much about fiction and face our own reality instead. Like the boy said, why does it matter how a fictional movie ends? Your world is already falling apart, so worry about that instead.

Rose tells her mother the parable of the drowning man who refused 2 boats and a helicopter. Rose was the only person who saw the oil tanker, heading straight for her. She saw the deer who everybody dismissed. She saw the Thorne household and decided she was not going to wait to be saved.

God helps those who help themselves. Rose was the only survivor.

The ending was showing that Rose followed the signs from the deer to go to a safer place. She intuitively knew things were worse than what everyone else thought and she found refuge. The rest of the family with George and Ruth would end up at the house later. They are all actually very lucky considering what everyone else in the city were facing.

People who are saying there needs to be a part 2 have completely missed the point of the movie… the ending is happening as we speak, and all we care about (like Rosie) is fantasy and how movies and shows end.

Love the supreme irony that loads of people are frustrated because there was no ending to the story. The writers have literally turned you into the Rose character. So clever 😂

One thing I took from the ending is that we, as a society, rely so much on cloud-based storage that we put everything in it: movies, art, music, pictures, literature, medical documents, etc. I feel that once the internet goes down, like in this movie with the last episode of Friends, we lose it and have no power to access it anymore. Physical copies of these art forms, articles of information, and knowledge need to be kept in some sort of physical form.

I just hated the ending. I get that not every ending has to be completely satisfying, but it did such a solid job at building up these characters all for it to end with basically nothing, no closure for any of the characters we got to know. Do they live? Do they die, it’s not clear and I’d like to at least kinda have an idea.

Also interesting to note the wall art on the wall changes from scene to scene - there is a black and white modern art painting that grows more chaotic over time, while the ocean background on the wall goes from tranquil to stormy over time.

I’m from Iran and I hate it when they mention my country as the enemy of US because when I’m watching a movie I’m just a human not Iranian or American. And I think in the end it’s not about people. The joke the man said was so important to me some specific people whom they knew all about what’s gonna happened in the end and hide before everything even start.

We were supposed to think that it’s odd that Rose only cares what happens to the people on a show, despite all of the chaos going on around her. But, then this movie makes a lot of us care about what happens to the people at the end of the movie…”I was so close”…and leaves us with no conclusion or explanation. It puts the majority of the viewers in Rose’s shoes, while chaos is happening in our own world. So, now, we relate.

this movie is scary. This actually can happen. I think practicing survivslism, navigating with no technology, reading books, news papers, growing food, learning basic medicine remedies is very much needed.

It ends the way it ends so you can feel how the little girl felt about not being able to finish friends 😂

If two strangers come in the middle of the night telling me they are the owners I would suspect them and wouldn't drink anything they offer regardless of their skin tone, religion or anything. That is sus.

The cinematography and camera angles in this movie were INCREDIBLE

You heard the family calling for Rose at the end as they were looking for her. Roses bicycle was in front of the house and it was only a matter of time that they would find Rose. So I believe they survive.

The best horrors are always the ones that play on real fears. No jumpscares, no make believe monsters, but a threat or a situation that could happen in reality. That’s the shit that keeps you awake at night.

Edit: What the hell I wrote this comment as a compliment to the film and now there’s religious nutters and snobs in the replies. If you believe in Jesus, fine, but don’t expect anyone else to.
