For the first time in France's post-war history, the far right could win parliamentary election, opinion polls show, with a left-wing union seen winning the second-biggest group and President Emmanuel Macron's centrist alliance coming third. But this is an election like no other in France, campaign time is short, the electoral landscape is shaken, and other scenarios cannot be excluded. FRANCE 24's Philip Turle tells us more.

Why do you present Macron as a relevant reviewer in terms of budget when his policies have so drastically increased the country's debt ?
Beside, he's the one dissolving the Assembly and causing all this trouble...

Hopefully, "the far right" will win.

WRONG
At the end Philip gets confused - he states "debt" NOT "deficit"
Deficit is yearly overspend
Debt is how much France owes in total
Philip states the total
France is in debt to the tune of around €3 trillion, or more than 110 percent of gross domestic product, and a deficit of €154 billion,

This is indeed an election for the Prime Minister. If you think Jordan Bardella can go to the farmers and the business leaders and convince them that Bardella is good for business, you must be dreaming.

Hopefully the far right won't win domestically, so they can get a chance to show their skills (or lack their off) in the EU before the electorate commits to them for domestic politics.
