Good tip, I do this a lot since I paint in a garage and I get a lot of “stuff “ floating around.

this helped me so much i had a couple runs and sags in a side skirt and the 600 took it right out.
Then i laid base right on top of that and it didn’t show through!

It also helps A LOT to use am air blade like a walcom while you're sanding, it keeps the base from balling up and sticking on the panel. Especially since ppg takes forever to completly dehydrate to there it will just dust up. Idk why the blacks are so bad I never tack them after sealer.

Ok, I’m DIY’ing my VW atlas with some minor bodywork, but the hard part is the paint. I’ve read and watched as much as I can. Many seemingly qualified people say don’t sand your base coat. Also, what is “de-nibbing?”

I went through filling and sanding primer where its even and flat but the damn base coat i have to wet color sand it to get the metallic and flake to match right but i dunno how to stop from rubbing through the base in some spots where theres primer .. i know the primers right because i used a powder to test high/ low spots.. but i dunno what to do aside from completely sanding and redoing the entire thing. Doing a deep scratch dent repair on a fender. So if i add more base coat to the area then it will stand proud of the existing but if i dont then i rub through.. is there such a thing as denting the area more then fill to where i can put on more layers of base to match it or will that cause issues with the extra filler and base? Or do i overlap the base on the existing base then trry to feather that over a larger area?? Im about ready to take a chainsaw to this damn thing and call insurance.. lol

Just finished three coats of base, but I did not have my tape for soft edge, I have hard edge lines in the middle of my door panel, how do I get rid of the herd edge before clearcoat?
