India Election 2024 Results LIVE: BJP-led NDA Elects Narendra Modi as Alliance Leader

Leaders of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance unanimously elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the ruling bloc’s leader on Wednesday, passing a resolution to underscore the government’s commitment to serving the poor, women, youths, farmers and deprived sections of society. TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, LJP(R) leader Chirag Paswan and NCP leader Praful Patel were among those who attended the meeting. The election verdict was rather humbling for the ruling BJP as the party lost its majority in the Indian Parliament. Prime Minister Narendra Modi secured a record term but with no clear majority. PM Modi, a populist leader who has dominated Indian politics since coming to power in 2014, will for the first time need the support of regional allies whose loyalties have wavered over the years, which could complicate the government's reform agenda.

I am a BJP supporter. Like millions of my compatriots, I do not feel that we won. Yes, the BJP will form a government, but this will be a very weak one. I am afraid that the opposition will largely influence the functioning . It is shocking that given the debacle, there is no one who has been asked to account for the leadership failure. Why did Amit Shah not know about what was going on in Uttar Pradesh and Maharastra? He is responsible for this loss, and HE MUST Resign immediately. He has no right to continue in the position.
