A lot of times men don’t go into it due to their worries about stereotypes and such. I know A LOT of men who love fashion, but they’ve closeted it. They don’t talk about it at all. Which is sad. Thanks to societal bullshit and judgmental assholes, we have men who don’t want to be bullied or called gay or etc due to liking fashion, as it’s always been spoken about or seen as a “feminine thing.” Which is ludicrous. What’s wrong about liking fashion? About wanting to look good? About wanting specific brands or colors or articles of clothing? Why suppress that for other people? They’re probably going to talk shit either way.

I hate that it’s like this. You’re called “metro” or “metrosexual” if you are a man who is into fashion (whether you’re gay or not, but typically more-so if you’re not gay, as they contribute it to someone “being gay” if they’re gay, which is also absurd.) It’s all due to the same reasons as to why traditionally men who are heterosexual usually don’t want to discover their softer side, or their feminine side at all, or talk about their feelings or go to therapy (or even admit they have feelings ffs), that the only appropriate emotion they can show as a straight man is anger, etc, . Toxic masculinity sucks. I wish men could be soft, fragile, etc and not be considered weak. It’s all made up bullshit. Men reading this- please don’t be afraid to be you. A man. And like the things you like. If you’re a man who likes something, then it’s manly right? Nothing is black or white. Objects and concepts don’t have gender. Don’t let people lead you to believe this shit. Be happy. Be you. ❤

I think In Asian cultures it's not restrictive men often wear jewelry and different patterned clothing in South Asian and East Asian cultures. I do think it was greatly discouraged after colonisation when we start noticing men start wear western clothing in these countries.
