Today software products are widely distributed systems. Applications have moved from a traditional server & database model to far more distributed systems. In the cloud ecosystem, dozens of specialized systems have emerged to solve niche problems in applications, while this has made delivering software products a bit easier to build, it has also made them harder to monitor, in addition to more points of failure. Even something as simple as the user interface is often now split into at least two servers between an API and a single page application. In this presentation, we will discuss combining Logs, Metrics, and Traces into a cohesive solution to make a software system observable.
