The following states have a Medigap Open Enrollment Period using the “Birthday Rule.” Each state has its own guidelines for how the “Birthday Rule” works. You must have an existing Medigap policy to use the “Birthday Rule.”

Nevada
Illinois
Louisiana
Oregon

Missouri has a Medigap Open Enrollment opportunity using the “Anniversary Rule.” You must have an existing Medigap policy to use the “Anniversary Rule.”

Washington offers year-round Open Enrollment for Medicare Beneficiaries who have an existing Medigap plan.

The following states have year-round Medigap Open Enrollment. You are not required to have an existing Medigap policy; however, a waiting period may apply for pre-existing health conditions.

I thought Massachusetts also let you change providers without underwriting.

I keep getting told no one will qualify my mom (80) for G ir N bevause she gets shots for retena degeneration disease.... so how is she ever supposed to get coverage? Shes far healthier than most 80 year olds

Hi! Thank you for your educating me in this extremelly important topic as I’m only two years away from reaching my 65th. My question for you: Lets say I decide to go for the plan N but for some reason I reach the point that I can’t afford it anymore….how difficult would be to go into an advantange plan at that point? Is’t possible to go from a supplemental to an advantage plan? Tank you again! (btw: love the bloopers!)

So, I have medigap F high deductible, I would like to stay with same company but go with Type F. would you have to go through underwriting.
