"You're getting what you paid for, sir" is always a mildly funny unit chatter

This is probably my favorite playthrough at the moment, I look forward to each episode and watch them immediately when they release. Great video!

When it comes to the Empire not caring for its pilots, that was more of the ineptitude of politicians made into Admirals, and the Emperor’s view on life outside his own. I agree it makes sense that the Empire doesn’t mass produce fighters like the Defender, Advanced, and Phantom. However the reason they have them at all is because of Grand Admirals like Zaarin, and Thrawn who saw the weakness of the ISD and the strength of the Rebels’ fighter based fleets. In my opinion the Empire should have a few fleets comprised of advanced fighters and carriers. Maybe these fleets are under the command of an officer like Thrawn or Zaarin

Hey Shack, hope this helps, but the description of some worlds tell you that rebels can build manufacturing bases, which boost income by a lot. Also building two of same type of shipyards on a world, greatly decreases build time. 2 of them on Mon Cala can help you just keep a constant stream of capital ships coming. Same of Sullust with the Dauntless.

Shack, I'm a fan of the channel. Addressing your question about how we play the empire: the empire is my favorite faction, when I play EaW I build the empire as I want it to be, not to recreate the one depicted in the movies.

Rogue Squadron Journal
Week 138 - In Hyperspace
Lt. Witton Bogre - Rogue 4

With the war with the Hutts over, our attention has returned fully to the Empire. Many reports have flooded in over the last few weeks of massive construction projects that the Empire has been pouring resources into. The result of this build-up has been experienced in the Galatic North with the continued battles and skirmishes at, and around Scipio. Crix Madine has been handling the situation well but has yet to make any gains, so in response command has ordered General Kota to join him in hopes of pushing back the Empire.

In an attempt to help alleviate the situation in the north, command had us act on information provided by agent Nightswan. After dealing with the capture and imprisonment of not only our elusive shadow Guri but Tyber Zann as well on Jabim, he'd been tasked with investigating reports of Imperial warship research. While tracking imperial freighters moving large quantities of materials from a storage base on the Jade Moon, Nightswan had determined that Aridus was a major location on their routes. After some clandestine operations he'd located the research station but also learned that Vader's Death Squadron fleet was operating in the area as well and called in to report his findings.

In response to this threat command pulled the Home fleet south along with the Liberation's for a joint operation to raid the station. With the fleet assembled and prepared to back us up, the Liberation and her carriers, filled to the brim with the squadrons of both fleets arrived undetected in system. Thanks to Nightswan's reconnaissance, he'd learned that we could reach the research station undetected through a nearby asteroid field but we'd have to clear out a cluster of sensor posts in the field first. Requiring us to fly close and low to the asteroids to get in range undetected, Rogue Squadron took point as the rest fell in behind. One by one the posts were destroyed, blinding them and opening up a clear path for the others. With so many squadrons the target was obliterated in short order.

Unfortunately our luck soon ran out as a desperate call came over the comm from Captain Shack, ordering all squadrons back to the carriers. Vader's fleet was in route and his lead elements were already bearing down on the Liberation and he didn't want to commit to a full fleet battle at this juncture. High tailing it back we came across the Liberation exchanging fire with a Star Destroyer. While the other squadrons quickly landed, Rogue, Saber, and Bravo flight provided cover as they did. Just as the rest of the Imperials arrived we left, having acomplished our objective.

Here's hoping we at least slowed them down a bit today, because if not. Well, it's best not to think about it.

You know you could cook up that Venator falling in rebel hands as admiral Shed assisting from inside of the empire having seen writing and being disillusioned to the Empire.
Food for thought.

Corsair Cross Journal
Dathomir
Rancor Company

For the first time in weeks, we've seen some action. The men crowded around and watched as Star Destroyers tore our defense fleet apart.

I'd just ordered the evacuation of all essential personnel and equipment when our Main Fleet jumped in and decimated the Imperials. It was a sight to behold.

Now, we've received word that General Kota and his Army are preparing an assault on Scipio.

Finally, High Command gives a shit about us. Rancor Company had been itching to get back into the fight. Our orders are to join up with Kota's forces and assist in the attack.

Ventri and Howzach ate getting the men ready now.

It's about damn time. My weapon's been cold for too long.

[Mission Debrief: Operation Yardbreak]
[Imperial Fleet Research Facility. Aridus]
[Captain Kyran 'Nightswan' Tadden recording.]

-

"Despite the effort that went in to this operation, the objective wasn't to take Aridus' orbit. Shack knew we weren't ready for a knockdown brawl with the Empire at the moment but we couldn't sit on the intel we had gotten from the last round of interrogations from Zann, casually dropping that the Black Sun has noticed increased movements of resources about the Mid-Rim and not for what we thought it was."

"We needed more information on that, so while Echo and Home Fleets set about doing whatever they were doing to keep the Empire distracted, Captain Solo dropped me off at the Wheel to see if Black Sun knew anything else in regard of these Imperial Supply Routes and convoys relating to this new, clandestine project the Empire seems to have been working on while we were busy in Hutt Space. While on their own they seemed to be dead ends I noticed that one constant with the Black Sun manifests I uncovered pointed in one general direction: Aridus."

"I don't need to go over the details, the planet itself is rich in mineral wealth but is covered in an arid desert, pitted with Volcanic activity not unlike Sullust. But all the information I aquired pointed me at that molten dustball of a planet. Shack authorized what would become known as 'Yardbreak' to lay the groundwork for a raid on any potential targets of opportunity that were in orbit. I was to go in, accertain targets of opportunity then make the call there and then: either to call in the Liberation's carrier group and hit as many targets as we could or call for extraction and hope we can hit the planet before it becomes too big of a problem."

"I went in with the credentials of an Imperial Computer Technician with standing orders to make sure the data stores and memory banks on the orbital facilities were working properly and maintained direct uplink to the ground facility, wherever that may have been. It didn't take me long to pick out my target and the reason why so many freight haulers and cargo ships were coming through the area; there was a damn Warship Research Facility in orbit, trust me I recognised the distinctive look of that kind of research and development facility. Tucked in behind an asteroid field that shielded it ideally from capital ship bombardment. That was the primary target and that was the station I had to get on first. Was able to do that easily."

"It was the usual rigmarol after that, bluffing my way past security so I could gain access to a data port. I figured while I was there I may as well grab everything I could in regards to what the Empire's been funneling resources in to, all pertinent information is attached to the modified Data Burst attached to this report: suffice to say the Empire has been busy on expanding their fleet; multiple new fighter designs and initiatives in the hopes to close the gap with our X-Wings, including the old TIE Defender program that Ghost Cell was able to disrupt all those years ago. But as the facility was focused on developing new Warship designs the details of the initiatives are sketchy at best. Their warship development, however, seems to be a fleet wide modernization effort for existing ships: design specifications of up to date Victory-class Star Destroyers as well as something that was labled as 'Project: Warrior', the relevent files will show it as the framework and operational details of the project slated to be the next logical step in the 'Mandator' series: the 'Bellator Star Dreadnought', one of which is apparently already in production."

"I grabbed a copy of everything I could and got ready to call for extraction. The reasoning being that Death Squadron, Darth Vader's personal fleet, was in the system undergoing resupply and I wasn't going to risk the Liberation on the raid if they were going to stick around. Things changed when I passed an observation deck and saw that Vader's fleet was positioning to jump out of the system. That moment I rushed to the nearest secure comms terminal and dialled in the 'maintainance' frequency Shack and his fleet were listening out for and giving the all clear for the raid with the call-word 'Go'. And what little time I had left was outlining the best way for the Raid to hit the station: every Fighter armed with ordinance to navigate the asteroid field the station was using as natural cover but to expect the field to be littered with Sensor Pods on approach. I also told them not to worry about me as I'd make my way out of system by my own means. That bring the last freighter out just as the Liberation entered the system. Stayed in the hold for as long as I dared when they made an emergency jump to hyperspace. One day on Atzerri later and I was able to slip out on a Twin Suns transport. Got back to the Liberation a day and a half later."

"You've no doubt gotten the mission report from Shack on how the raid went. I understand it went almost without a hitch save for an Imperial Star Destroyer almost bearing down on him. Hopfully the loss of a key R&D facility will slow the imperial fleet modernisation efforts down... even so, may have come a tad to late as one of these Bellators is already under construction. But without the details and such, for now it's only JUST the one. We can only hope it's more a mind inconvenience rather than a stumbling block for the fleet."

"Nightswan, signing off."

Captains Log:
Captain Rylan “Saber 1” Brask.
Alliance Fighter Squadron Lead [X-Wing Squadron: Callsign-Saber]

We didn’t get to spend too much time on Gamorr unfortunately. I’ll tell you what though those Sullustan Techs don’t mess around. I don’t think I’ve had a smoother ride in my X-Wing since she was first assigned to me.

Our sortie over Trandosha was quick and easy just how I like it. Nothing really of note, the Black Sun didn’t exactly have a substantial fleet over the planet. Makes sense seeing as it was the last planet still under their control for at least the 50 parsecs.

News from the North is that Madine is still causing trouble. So much so that they sent General Kota and his army to back him up so we might actually be able to start reclaiming our lost territory.

We received word from our own spies and one anonymous source who only goes by “Fox” along with whatever intel Agent Nightswan could gather. We don’t have any other information on “Fox” other than their alias but the info they did have was most useful especially when combined with Nighswans reports. So useful that we brought the two southern fleets together for one all out raid on Aridus. Intelligence reports said there was a research station in orbit and if we hit that then we might be able to disrupt the construction of whatever new superweapon the Empire has started making. It was a small chance but this was a gamble we’d have to take, whether the odds were on our side or not.

The raid on Aridus was perhaps the most impressive display of Starfighter power and coordination I've seen. I don’t think The Liberations hanger bays have ever felt so damn claustrophobic. Not complaining though, without all those squadrons we probably wouldn’t have succeeded in our objective, especially since a Star Destroyer began to bear down on The Liberation and the carrier group. When that emergency call came through, Saber Squadron moved in right behind Rogue Squadron and Bravo Flight to provide support while the other squadrons either landed at their respective carrier or calculated the jump to lightspeed. With the rest of Vaders vanguard approaching the system the fleet was cleared for the jump to hyperspace. Rogue and Saber Squadrons were the last out of the system along with the Liberation.

Here’s to hoping we managed to do something, if not well… probably best to take Wittons advice and not think on it too hard.

Captain Brask, Out

I’ve got a really bad feeling about this.

Rebel Analyst Report.
Class 3 Clearance Only
Title: Looming Shadow from Kuat
Station: Crix Madine 2nd Fleet, Dauntless Class Heavy Cruiser “The Hammer”

Spies have been uttering horrible reports from the Kuat drive yards, a Bellator has entered construction. To make matters worse, a new Imperial Dreadnaught “factory” ship is 94% completed. Comms have been picking up a whole lot of Imperial troop movements along the front. They are planning something, a strike is coming. My best guess is either Kashyyyk or a possible offensive to correct the horrible loss they had at Eriadu.

The writing on the wall is clear, we need bigger ships NOW. For months we have been relaying on fighter supremacy to make up for a lack of proper front line brawlers, but that has been challenged by Imperial projects such as the Tie Defender and Tie Avenger. With a horde of Imperial juggernauts on the way I see only one option.

*WE MUST STRIKE THE WHEEL*

Impressing the Mon Cala leadership by finishing our buffer zone is the only way we can convince them to fully commit to supporting us.

Captain's Log

Captain Davon Cress, Dauntless-Class Battleship "Arquent"

Alliance Battlegroup Center

The Empire's been building up. Madine's previous effort to hamper the construction of an imperial secret project has sadly been in vain. Bothan spies have reported minimal slowdown in terms of their progress to completion. What's more is that the same Bothan spies stalking the imperial secret unit caught wind of another imperial project. The Bellator-class Star Destroyer. The Rebel Alliance currently knows nothing on the subject. The Counter-Sabotage Operations team stationed here in the fleet has reported multiple attempts in the past few days, an increased frequency compared to last week. From what I can infer from all this espionage, The Empire is now focusing on us and us alone. With the Black Sun and Hutts eradicated, the fight now is against the Empire.

Meanwhile up in the north, the imperials took a... rather unique fleet to Dathomir. It wasn't the standard imperial fleet, no. Yes, it's composition relied on two ISDs for it's main brawling capability, but instead of having a regular escort fleet, the empire chose a more carrier-oriented fleet. Five Ton-Falks, each with varying loadouts. A fleet like that would usually be under the command of someone like Grand Admiral Thrawn. Our small garrison there managed to break through the enemy formation, going too far from the ISD's firing arcs and hammered the escort fleet. The fleet along with the station was lost, but we did manage to take down three of the five carriers down with us. Madine was assigned to deal with the fleet, again, because he was the only available task force in the region. Recovering from the previous battles, his fleet now incorporated Glatisant Squadron, a small fleet of MC 30 Torpedo boats intended to replace the two MC 75s the fleet previously lost.

The MC 30 is an odd ship. It's not the traditional Mon Cal design I'm used to. It feels more akin to the Nebulon-B. It's shape and size may be similar, but it's firepower, shielding, and speed are much better than the Nebulon. During the battle over Dathomir, a single MC 30 stationed there managed to divert the attention of the entire enemy fleet to itself. An entire fleet chasing it, with swarms of fighters. Somehow, the damn thing survived. It's four proton torpedo launchers allow it to be a considerable threat to even the ISDs. I've been meaning to see a replacement for the MC 75. As much as I like the ship for it's short range capabilities, it lacks the speed and efficiency the MC 30 has. Overall, a good raiding ship. Might assign a few of those to battlegroup center if I can.

Now, Madine's fleet had to break through Scipio again in order to reach through to Dathomir. Glatisant Squadron broke through the enemy line, but was sadly intercepted by a Victory SD, which tractor beamed and devastated one of the older MC 30s. I can see tractor beams being a major weakness, holding the ship in place for the cannons to wreak havoc upon. Despite the loss, we did manage to take the orbit and send one of the imperial platoons we intercepted in orbit heading towards Dathomir seeking safety from their fleet. Madine's fleet gave pursuit. Without the other three carriers supporting them, the fleet was vulnerable. Glatisant Squadron was sent as a vanguard force while the Dauntless flanked the ISDs which were out of position. Nearly the entire enemy fleet was wiped off the face off the galaxy.

Soon after, we finally got off this damn rock. We've been assigned to the Liberation QRF. The rendevous at Toydaria was quite a sight. The largest rebel fleet assembled thus far, to take on whatever operation command gives us. Finally got to meet Rogue and Saber squadrons in person. Didn't know they were so... "chaotic" at times. All captains assembled on the bridge of the Liberation. Shack gave us a quick briefing of what's to come.

The Liberation QRF responded to what the Bothan spy network was telling them about. Many of Kuat's finest ship designers, all gathered in a station within Aridus for what appeared to be a "secret meeting". Fortunately, our spy network managed to intercept comms coming to and from Aridus, and that's how we learned how much of a big deal this is. Many of them carried ship schematics ranging from the Victory Star Destroyer to this supposed "Super Star Destroyer". Some were even high-ranking positions within Imperial R&D. The goal was to destroy the station, perhaps setting the empire back on their plans for advanced star destroyer designs. Being a raid, the QRF focused primarily on fighters instead of having a large fleet battle to minimize potential losses. Whatever the event was for those shipwrights to gather in must have been important, because according to this after action report I'm reading right now, Vader himself sent his fleet's lead elements to Aridus. With the station gone, the Liberation alongside it's carrier escort hyperspaced out of there while taking fire from the ISD that just jumped in.

However, according to Bothan spies still observing the empire, their progress has yet to slow. One of their secret units, the "Arc Hammer" supposedly nears completion, and we may be seeing it on the frontlines soon. We are still investigating everything going on surrounding the Bellator.

I'm currently overjoyed to not just be out of Jabiim for once, but finally take on something, even if we were simply coordinating fighter support. CDO Jacques Tynn's birthday is tomorrow. Might buy souvenirs from Bothawui. Last time I ever gave him a gift, the damn blaster blew up in his study. Hope it happens this time just because. For now, Captain Cress, out.

That poor Tector captain, ordering the retreat after finally accepting that the Rebels had won thay round. The countdown for the jump to Hyperspace for all intents and purposes complete, only for a rumbling below deck and the outside space not turning to star lines.
Another excellent episode Captain! 👌

Remember you can take Mon Mothma out to Mon Cala - no reason to keep her over at Hoth! Then you can just drop her right down there whenever the mission to escort her there happens.

loved the Dathomir fight. that was playing to the rebellions strength. tie them up with a capital ship, and get behind them with fighters and corvettes. need to be careful, i have noticed that you are getting spread thin in fronts you are fighting, and getting distracted by other fights you prep for 1 then go for something different. but you are killing it out there so you are doing something correct.

Fighter squadron leader logs:

(Madine came over coms)
"Lighting squadron, your mission is to drop out of hyperspace and focus your entire assault of the imperial Starbase or yaga minor while phantom squadron(a wing squadron) provides fighter support at the same time.
You understand your mission commander fierce"

Yes Sir

"See u on the other side"

Thanks sir
Alright lighting squadron, here we go, drop out of warp and excelerate to attack speed.
(Every one said yes sir)

everyone drop out of warp as I stared at the amount of star fighters assaulting this single shipyard and I understand the importance of this Starbase, it puts a halt if not slows them down in production of ships for there war effort. While continue are assault, I notice multiple massive objects closing in on us, they were ISDs. Just as I was making sure everyone was OK, lighting 2 hit something vital and the entire Starbase lit up like fire works.

Good shot lighting 2, LIGHTING SQUADRON LETS GET OUT OF HERE (I said at the top of my lungs). What was left of lighting squadron form up with me and lighting 2 and we proceed to jump hyperspace.

Few hours later, we start to count are lose, we lost 2 of the mon cal cruisers that I notice, probably trying to slow the isds that we're approaching us during the assault, I wish my squadron didn't take loses but we lost lighting 6 and 8 in that assault, there star fighters will be replace but not pilots, I just wish we didn't have to morn the loses but that's war, hopefully this war comes to the end soon but it looks doubtful.
