Don't betray your future self to gratify your current self. Word of wisdom indeed.

What I like the most about Joe is that he lets his guests speak, no cutting off, no “uhuh, mmhh, yes, uhuh”. Just silent and listening.

I betrayed my future self to gratify my present self. That gratification started about 58 years ago and continued for another 40 years. It was called smoking. Now I'm dying. No sympathy needed or asked for. I knew it was stupid when I started and during every single day that I continued, but still I continued. Anyone hooked on such unhealthy pursuits should pay more attention to their own common sense. Lacking this, they should pay more attention to people like Dr. Peterson.

Since getting diagnosed with cancer, Jordan's words hit harder. Not to take away from anyone's experience. Bless all of you.

What I love so much about hearing Jordan Peterson speak, is that he explains very abstract machinations of human thought and emotion with the clarity of a video on how to fix a washing machine. Takes it apart methodically and puts it back together. Seriously I think a lot of people fear deeper thinking because they are afraid they won't be able to put back together what they took apart. So much easier to parrot the latest catch phrase and go along to get along.

“12 rules for life” changed my way of thinking, for the better… forever. I’ll forever have the utmost respect for J.Peterson 🤝

Also never be afraid to ask questions. Ask as many as you’d like so long as they’re not completely idiotic! When I was a kid my father would always tell me “don’t pay any attention to those who laugh at your lack of knowledge in a particular subject, when you ask a question you may be a fool for 5 minutes, when you don’t, you remain a fool forever” I later in life learned that he was quoting Confucius, but one of the many reasons I’ve always loved my dad was because although he was very wise (in my eyes at least) he always called himself a fool 😊
R.I.P dad ❤

Every time I listen to Jordan, I realise again how much I have allowed myself to be lulled to sleep by the system. In a state of constant procrastination. The minions of the system have led us to believe that we live in a comfortable peacetime and that it is therefore no big deal if you don't do something today, but would rather do it tomorrow. Or the day after tomorrow. After all, you are not the only one. And should we feel bad as a result, medicines have been invented for that too. The fact that we have to give ourselves a kick up the arse to break that eternal passivity is, in our system, an entirely optional choice. That this indecision often results in a miserable limp life is then simply our own fault. And there is nothing quite as difficult as changing ingrained habits, so to speak.

Jordan Peterson, a man of many words, and much insight! Thank you for posting this

"If you want to improve things, tell the truth." Such simple and straightforward words. And never were words so violated by people who believe in and practice the opposite!

This is, to me, a really supercompressed way to view and present a deep and difficult matter/issue in an understandable way. There are soooo many deep insights and reflexions behind those words that it is nothing but magic to put it forth in the way he does. Impressive!!! Sorry for bad english ...

Jordan Peterson is a Gem ! Thank you for your grounded common sense, insight, and guidance. And the integrity and bravery to defend your position against the derailed minds that we are confronted with today.

Can agree, my biggest issue i had growing was feeling useless since my dad would always try putting me down and nothing was ever good enough for him, so with that said ive picked a love for fitness after doing it for over 15 years helped open up other outlets in my life i ended up exceling at to make me feel as if i have purpose, also im far different from my dad as i have much patience and never try putting anyone down but try being uplifting, my dad even till this day will still try putting me down, but I have come to accept that is just who is and it's due to his narcissistic nature and I've more apparent in that behavior when I encounter people who have similar traits.

Keep pushing, it’s a marathon not a sprint, everyone works in their own time but time waits for no man. So before you say “I’ll start tomorrow” why not now. Make the choices & actions that lead to you being the person you want to be
