ABOUT US:
We’re traveling full time, living on our own terms and showing you the up-close-and-personal details of us figuring it out along the way. Sometimes it’s about navigating big, life-altering decisions. Sometimes it’s about navigating the seemingly lawless free-for-all that is driving in Hanoi. It’s moments of triumph and moments of panic. The good, the bad, the ugly – and most importantly, the real and real funny.

We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.” Just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem. We believe the world’s a more interesting place when people reject convention in favor of what they actually care about. This is us putting that idea to the test – one budget spreadsheet, RV renovation and mountain-peak drone video at a time.

Great tips! We generally do our own itinerary and don’t plan more than a few days or even a day ahead - just mainly select our areas to visit, then make a list of every possibility in each area (accommodations, food, things to do) and wing it day by day. We keep an open mind as to what we want to do and see - more adventure and fun for us that way (instead of someone else’s idea of what we should be seeing or doing)!

Thanks for the tips! You two are partly responsible for why I’m Mexico now. I over packed probably but was thinking, why buy on the trip when I already have one. Oh, my first ever Airbnb was here in Guadalajara and they were sledge hammering some of those thick concrete walls next to my unit and dust and debris covered everything, plus the noise sounded like they were coming through the wall. I got a refund and checked into a hotel where I am now. I’ve got another Airbnb booked for 2wks in San Miguel de Allende so i hope that one os better. Learnt my lesson! Love your content and loving my tripped travel gear! Keep it up!

Just 'found' you. Your comment about street food reminded me of when we went to Kathmandu for two weeks some years ago. We mostly eat at street vendors or really cheap cafes where the locals went (we'd already worked that tip out for ourselves), and it was all good! However, just for one night we 'treated ourselves' to a meal in a really posh internationally-known hotel. That was the only night we were both ill!

This thumbnail reminds me of Alexis Rose! She's saying eh David!

I digress, hubby and I are planning an around the world trip with our toddler for 2021 or 22 depending on Covid. And I just bought your packing cubes/backpack as a Christmas present to myself. I miss travel so much and can't wait to be on the other side of the world!

Totally agree with all of these points!! We travel full-time with our toddler as well. P.s. that tornado potato from the Ao Nang night market- I had the same reaction haha!!

Thanks for sharing these tips, we also avoided buying $19 sunscreen on the beach in Ao Nang - just cheaper sunscreen saved us a lot in Thailand. Also thank you for reminder that almost everything is disposable, we are planning long term travel in 2020 and needed to hear that!

Here is a good tip for when you go on a shorter trip or the start of a longer trip. I will go on 2-4 week motorcycle trip every year. I go through my shirts, socks, and boxers and pick out my oldest, needs to be replaced stuff. Then they become wear and trash. Going to buy T shirts anyway. Boxers and socks from Walmart to replace and save for next trip were they become the wear&trash stuff.

One big point you forgot with Airbnb is "Read the Comments" (if any)! You can get a good perspective by just reading comments from the past guests. We don't usually book a spot unless it has a dozen comments. That alone has saved us the rooster call, stanky air, etc. And also, if you use Airbnb, leave a comment for future travelers so they are aware of the good, the bad and the ugly.

Bahahaha... What's wrong with new deli?

We are planning Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Cook Island.

What order do you recommend? The right now we have 28 days Australia (guided), New Zealand (self-guided), Fiji (Not sure) and Cook Islands (Not sure). Thoughts?

We are 63 and 55 now. Trip for 2020.
