After waiting for what felt like an eternity, last Thursday the markets finally came to an important realization about Medical Properties Trust. Given the recent developments surrounding this company, and their troubled client Steward Health Care, the markets finally realized that MPW was significantly undervalued. And what we’re observing is the beginning of the long awaited recovery we've been waiting for. On Thursday the share price of MPW soared by over 16%, which was then followed on Friday by another surge of 13.75%, bringing the five day streak to 30%. So today we're gonna take a look at the most recent developments for this healthcare REIT and determine what the future could hold for Medical Properties Trust.

I hold a little over 300 shares of it, with avg cost of $4.88 per share. I am going to ride this out and see where it takes me.

My portfolio doesn’t just cater to dividend stocks. I hold $VFIAX (S&P 500 index fund) in my Roth IRA and $VTI (Total Stock Market ETF) in my taxable brokerage account. Two of my largest holdings. The individual dividend stock positions all complement the index holdings.

Isn't it fair to say that the dividend MUST be increased as they become profitable again. 90% of earnings are required by law to be distributed, right?

Since I purchased it at 4.10 back in January. I'm up 97% (Including dividends paid so far). I plan to keep all 615 shares in my ROTH for the foreseeable future. Gotta get that Cost On Yield. (Currently 7.51%)

I was happy to see this reduce my substantial loss on 4000+ shares.

Thanks for the update on MPW. I rather look forward than back. MPW currently yields a safe 5% with prospects to growth as financials straighten out. While I'm still down 50% based on share price, I will continue to hold.

I’m at 1500 shares. I’m actively working towards 3500 shares. Even at $10 a share it’s a steal

what the hell happened? I thought it was over and didn't think it would ever go below $5 again. These short sellers are no joke.

I saw MPW was at $4.30 and I scooped it up, I could tell it was WAY undervalued. Glad I did :)

Thanks for the input for MPW. I did not mind the first DIV cut. I was still making 6 to 7 shares a year. The second Div cut is now at 2 shares a year. Decisions? Decisions! as well as very Interesting

MPT is a reit but also an etf.i also don't believe Stewart would just go bankrupt & bankrupt MPW. u had my thoughts on the dividens. whoo-hooo!

Even after the dividend cuts the company still pays a dividend larger than most dividend stocks at around 6%. With tenant problems solved revenue and profits will rise and management will raise the dividend again. MPW is likely to experience a massive short squeeze next, we are likely already seeing the first stage of the squeeze.

Part of the increase was because it was paying out dividends. More people buy just before the ex date and hold until the price recovers.
