The thing is, this movie never really had a chance. From the financial decisions such as marketing, to the legacy of Brandon Lee. Maybe instead of attempting to remake a classic, they should've gone an anthology route where different people get the crow's powers.

What amazed me the most about this piece of crap was the absolute lack of characters. There were none. The bad guys were non-existent. There is no characterization AT ALL. Did they have names? What was their motivation? Why were they working for this douchebag who inexplicably had the ability to send innocent people to Hell? What was his deal? What was that about? Then there's Eric. What was with the horse other than it was a single frame in the comic? Was that his mom skanked out and dying on the couch? How did he wind up in the multi-level rehab mall from "Logan's Run"? Then there's Shelly. She got a video of the bad guy and then gets herself thrown into rehab to escape them and just falls head over heels for dollar store Jared Leto Joker? They developed nothing! The music was off-putting as hell. Nothing fit. We go from one of the greatest soundtracks of the 90s to fucking Enya???? The fuck? The original made Eric and Shelly's love real with around 3 minutes of flashbacks. You could see how someone would be filled with enough rage over what was stolen there to literally claw his way out the grave for revenge. The bad guys in the original were totally fleshed out with very little effort due to the fact they hired great actors to play them and spent just a teeny bit of time showing them interacting with each other. That scene where they were swallowing bullets fleshed those characters out perfectly! The weird, imaginary version of Detroit was gritty and fully realized. Where did this film take place? It felt like a weird hybrid of France and Vancouver. And Jesus, the people defending this shit burger are incredible. Does no one expect a good film anymore? Is this disjointed, half-assed jibberish all it takes? I knew it was going to suck, but this was easily the worst film of 2024.

as a fan of the original I saw the OG in theaters for it's 30th anniversary and got the new 4k Blu ray. Hard pass

They bang, do drugs and get wasted in techno clubs together, so you know this is love.
They escape a correctional facility and justice system by jumping a fence and hitching a ride. Who knew it was that easy?
All jobless junkies have big apartments downtown, so you know they are going for that realism.
First thing you do when you get back from afterlife with a mission to save your loved one is go get wasted at your tattoo artist's place, for sure.

As a standalone movie it's maybe passable if you turn off your brain. As a Crow movie it's awful. As Eric & Shelly Crow movie it's atrocious.

It took 15 years to finally get this movie made and as much as I want to give this movie the benefit of the doubt, I couldn’t even bring myself to even give it a chance.
No disrespect to Bill Skarsgard though because I’ve liked pretty much all the roles I’ve seen him in but it sucks that this was the final product the movie ended up being.

This movie is trash. I saw it in theater in Februrary with a test audience. We all hated it. I contemplated walking out more than once.

Bill Sharsgard would have made a perfect crow in a more comic accurate adaptation. Unfortunately Sharsgard is made to cosplay as the love child of Jared Leto's Joker and DmC 2013's Donte shove into a what looks like a rip off the mortal instruments city of bones. John Wick 1 seems more like a crow movie than this movie.

Personally for me, I think they should’ve went with a Viking vengeance story, mixing in the crow mythology and a bit of Norse mythology as well and put in some really good biking action and they could’ve been such a good movie

Hopes are low for this movie. But as someone who is trying to get more eyes on cinema, I would love to see the original and this newer one. I don’t like when they try to reboot these kinds of movies, because usually it isn’t even that great. Especially when there is a bit of controversy around it. But I suppose that can be even more intriguing. Thanks for the review, Chris! I know you’re very well open minded and offer your honest opinions, so I’m sure this review is going to be spot on.
