Awesome video! I have several MN78, one MN99s, and plan on getting the MN82. All of them need upgrades to improve performance and reliability. I appreciate this information.

I remember you did a similar conversion to mn78 and it was painful. I did the same to mine and didn't enjoy it. The adapter ring makes all the difference. Thanks for sharing

Just received my MN82 today, ok woah they've replaced the motor driver from the MN9x boards, it used to be the TA6586 5A continuous, 7A peak with the SA8336 which can handle 7A continuous, 14A peak (if you can trust chinese datasheet), with a bottom heatsink pad, both are pin compatible but if you want to be able to heatsink it, you'll have to solder it upside down so you can stick a heatsink below lol

Thank you for this information. I was hoping this could be done. 👍

I also measure the stock motor RPM, it's about 18k RPM at 7.4V, so the output RPM is about 1000RPM with a 1:18 reduction

Does someone know the stock 280 motor RPM? From my math as per one AliExpress seller, a 6V 16500 RPM motor with the 1:35 reduction gear yield about the same speed (on the MN78), so that would translate into 8500 RPM, is that WPL motor a 6000 RPM one? Also, for the length of the shaft, does 13mm includes the step heigh? Many thanks

One more thing bro, could you tell me what is the motor driver IC on the MN82 stock ESC/receiver? I saw TA6586 on the MN9x/MN78 board, is it still the same? It's the DIP-8 chip next to the motor connector. Trying to figure out the max amp draw I can safely pull through the stock electronic (if it's the same, datasheet says 5A continuous and 7A max but may need heatsinking on the motor ouput legs)

Very cool! What's the approximate top speed (with stock motor) of this pickup? Can it go up to 10 km/h?

Hello and thank you again for the great guide. I've made the motor change. Motor is working fine and smooth but when I connect it with the wheels, the wheels are tugging. I've tried to turn the joint with wheels and it seems to helps but I'm not sure if it is as the original state. So I would like to ask you if am I correct that it is necessary to correctly set (turn correctly) the plastic (original) connection to the motor. Thank you very much in advance.

sir i have a question, i ordered a 370 motor(blue color back side) from aliexpress. i plugged it to my stock circuit. it does not rotate continuously. when trigger press, it start to rotate, 2 sec later stop and after 2 sec start again then again stop. it's repeating. after i checked my circuit, it's heating high. there is no circuit heating with stock motor(280). sir can you explain why?😢

Lastly, it just occured to me but do we need that spacer/adapter? Otherwise can't we just drill 2 holes on the plastic housing and use a more standard 10-11.5mm shaft motor?

Nice conversion on motor to gain more power or to ran smoothly?? Did you change also the ESC or your still using the original

Hello. Can you please provide me a link for a 370 motor with long shaft. Couldn't find it.
Thanks

Could you tell if the plastic gearbox case is good? Is it reliable? I need this gearbox for a custom project without any extra weight

Hello sir.

I have a question.

I have changed the motor with the metal gearbox, the ESC, even the receiver to use it in my transmitter, but I can't get it to work at anything other than a single speed and it's fast. Do you know if there's a way to configure two speeds like with the original electronics?

Thanks for your videos.

You can get a 370 motor with a 2 speed gearbox and driveshafts so why not just install that ?
