Hey Everyone! Since it had been a year since I started learning Blender, I decided to make a “How to Learn Blender” video for anyone that needed help getting started. This is mainly aimed at those new to 3D and to those who are interested in learning, but new to the program in general. There’s a lot of information you can find on Blender, so I wanted to organize that into a list most helpful to me. It’s split up into 4 sections with the first being general tips, the second being resources, the 3rd being a breakdown of my year, and the 4th being common questions I received. It’s been a lot of fun using it and hoping to learn more in the coming year!

Hope you guys enjoy!

“It must’ve taken them 30 minutes to do this and in that time they could of been making a donut” That one got me good lol great video!

A really nice video, as a 45 yo man, that always wanted to be cartoon animator but never did because of excuses, finding your channel brought back the feeling of start learning how to do it And I feel like Blender is going to be the right tool for me. You are right, it's never too late!

Thank you 🙌
I’m still working through the donut tutorial, but it feels good to understand things at least a little bit. Blender has been really fun, and the open source philosophy along with the company’s approach make me feel like it’s really special and worth investing time into.

Well as for me, I'm really into comics and 2D cartoons, so I wanted to learn Blender to create my own materials to optimize my workflow. Your tutorial about grease paint just blew my mind. I love that your 3D work still feel 2D-ish and have this oldschool vibe about it ❤️

I was trying to rig some low poly characters last night and grew extremely frustrated that something that seemed so simple wasn't working for me. I was rethinking if I should be using Blender or 3D techniques at all. But I slept on it and visited this video today and I've been re-encouraged to keep working at it. I think I need to learn some more foundations. Thanks for putting out such an encouraging video!

I started Blender 3 days ago and I'm trying to complete a new tutorial every day. Today I did your 2 part flower tutorial and learned so much! I had never heard about grease pencil before. Thank you very much for making such amazing and detailed tutorial! 😋

WOW!
Thank you for sharing all these tips and your own journey too 😁
I also have a business marketing background and while I know my way pretty well around the Adobe Suite (and Affinity) I've long wanted to branch into some 3d elements. It's nice to see others sharing so much; from what I've seen so far, the Blender community is absolutely fantastic!

Thanks for mentioning the project deadline part. I already have bunch of unfinished programming projects because I lose motivation in the middle while doing unnecessary polishing work. I used to think a deadline is something stressful and something to avoid but what it does is actually getting the project to finish if you think about it. Thanks so much for reminding it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video! I've been wanting to start learning Blender for so long, but kept convincing myself that I didn't have time for it yet. This has motivated me to start! Thank you and fingers crossed I will actually start + go through with it this time!!!

My motivation that keeps me going is the end product I see in my head enjoying the satisfaction of looking at my creations

I love Blender it's just such a learning curve for people who are not artists to begin with it seems. (Also looking at your first 5 months makes me terribly depressed lol)
